A quote from today's Age article:

"People who know me will say I'm a loyal person and I can honestly say I gave everything to the Melbourne football club in the two years I was there and did everything thing I could do to help that club while I was there".

Translation

I am loyal to my dad Phil and to the highest bidder. I used THAT CLUB to my advantage to extract maximum monetary value whilst giving least in return. Not a bad result for an indifferent two seasons at THAT CLUB. So why does everybody hate me?

Pity, that the first casualty of war & mercenary's, is the Truth...

I would bet my left one on that very point. Went up to sydney to "view the facilities" with Dad, and never came back.

I wonder whether anyone is yet to open his old locker at AAMI Park?

Or just express posted a parcel to Breakfast Point.

Fair chance he'd already cleared out his locker Wyl

Cheers

Yes. That's why he couldn't play the last game against Port. He was just too busy.

Why, oh why, are people still rambling on about a disloyal EX demon? Get over it. He's gone and we will benefit.

Why, oh, why are people still trying to stifle our enjoyment.

If you object to Tom Scully threads, there are many places you can go to on this site without being confronted with discussion about the little [censored] and his dysfunctional family. This doesn't happen to be one of them.

Now, is anyone looking forward to tonight's game?

Not sure that "brief" is accurate DC1 but certainly back from the dark side.

The trouble is they are dealing with the dark side (C and W )

He actually could, if he had the courage, eek back a little respect by at least saying something along the lines of .... "look, it wasn't ideal the way certain aspects of it went down. If I could go back and change a few things or re-word some of what I said, I would" ... or perhaps even an "I can understand if the Melbourne fans are a bit aggrieved" etc ... He could be deliberately vague but get that type of point across. Show a bit humility and god forbid, honesty!

But there's none of that. Not even a hint. Quite the opposite ... he seems quite happy to portray himself as a victim.

Real estate .... Ha!

Yes, you are dead right Range. Not one ounce of remorse...

I find it very interesting that $cully always likes to portray himself as the victim in all these articles & press conferences.

It is so far from the truth, I wish a journalist had the balls to ask him about his March 5 presser. None of what he said there had ANY truth.

Dunno if you heard Ox interview him on SEN straight after he announced his defection. Ox pretty much confronted him on the fact that he had called Tom as "gone" earlier in the year. $cully was upset and tried to turn it on Ox by asking him if he was "questioning my integrity". So he was essentially taking that tack of trying to look like the victim. It had me squirming...I am very uncomfortable in the fact that this bloke ever wore an MFC Guernsey. He gave nothing but lip service in 2 years at MFC. He is delusional about how it has played out. Not a person in the footy community with half a melon would look at this bloke and not think "scumbag".

all the contrition will come up in the lead-up to the clash with the demons.

shame he committed to gws back in november, 2011.

i think he's going to be a fabulous player, but i hope he never tastes a premiership, and meanwhile viney, and the two kids we pick up with our compo picks, play in an historic era for the melbourne football club and drink in all the champagne of success that scully never does.

anyway, i expect him to, after six years, say 'i was really proud of being part of this fine club and helping establish it...and now i'm going back to richmond'.

Spending my lovely saturday night watching the NAB cup game between the Dogs and The Giants and I am honestly wrapped that $cully packed his bag and left our wonderful club. Done absolutely nothing and is soft as his dads left testicles. Doesnt chase and waits for easy balls to come out of a pack. Good to see GWS getting ripped off by the Scully family cause clearly the kid is not worth $6million.

Lets face it his only trait is his running ability otherwise he has nothing else.

I have a bridge I would like to sell him.

Certainly won't say that he can't play, but he was poor in that first NAB cup hitout. I gave him 1 effective disposal. Healy canned him over one incident where he got caught with the ball and said that a good player would have got away. He had 5-6 possessions and a number of clangers. Hope that is his best game for the year.

Interesting that Ward and Davis were both poor as well.

Yes The Ox did get stuck in, i remember that well. I was talking more of the press articles, all the journalist's tip toe around the issue considering when Phil signed..& when Tom came home from China.

The Ox was spot on and little Tom knew it.

As much as I hate to say it, his hard work ethic and fitness will see him to be a fine player. Having said that, I hope the next COD/Battlefield game has an option to photoshop faces onto your enemies. A bunch of dirty little scully bastards running around in my sights would bring so much joy.

I must admit to waiting for the match tonight to start. New Foxtel and such.

There was no joy in seeing football, I was surprised how much venom I felt for Scully. I just looked for him the whole quarter then turned off. It brought me right back to one Brian Wilson playing for St Kilda shaking his fist at the members after kicking a goal circa 1991.

I just listened to Col Garland's interview with Matt Burgan on the MFC website.

Dead set, that guy was an inspired selection. I love him. If I could give Scully any advice, it would be to listen to that interview and then reflect on why someone like Col Garland is in the leadership group and why he will most likely go down as a really important player in this club's history.

Garland strikes me as a considered thinker and a selfless individual.

In short, a real team player.

Just watched it and you're not wrong. Impressive stuff.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
