Fair gamble on Sellar. Fact is your odds are between slim and none of picking up a decent kid that late.

Thin draft.

Disagree thats where Mcdonald was taken last year, good players make it through to the rookie draft, 50 is like just over half way through the draft.

Also James McDonald is now the oldest player ever to be drafted!!!

Would have loved Manson - can't believe he wasnt taken at all ... I was wrong.

First Draft cliche for MFC.

If Tynan was strongly considered for pick 36, why did it take so long/have to take extra time to pick Tynan when pick 52 came up.

Barry Prendergast was interviewed on SEN and ... he sounded happy.

 

He said there were diverse opinions opinons about the draft and so clubs approached their selections differently.

 

In previous years there was an element of picking out needs but tonight we pretty much went for the best player at the picks we had.

 

Rory Taggert is a big bodied midfielder that we were looking for and we're happy with him.

 

Josh Tynan is a half back similar in many ways to Jack Grimes and this clould lead to us using Grimes in the midfield.

 

James Sellar was in the demographic that we wanted - mature talls and Sellar and Mitch Clark have done that for us. Sellar has some versatility and is happy to come to Melbourne. The change of scenery gives him an opportunity.

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
