What is our perfect foward line

Featured Replies

Thinking about what Mark Neeld said on SEN this morning when he said he put our foward line up on the magnet board he said it looks pretty good but he needs to make it work on match days.

Id say and this isnt in any order of set up but Id have Watts, Jurrah, Clark, Howe Pettard and Green with hopefully a fit Aussie down there and Jamar rotating through. Also have DAvey floating thorugh as well.

Ive probably left out someone but that would be a handy foward line.

Davey Clark Petterd

Howe Watts Jurrah

Robertson Neitz Jurrah

Farmer Schwarz pre-knees Davey

Dreaming am I?

Not really Striker !

Though I'd have Big Bob Johnson in for Jurrah and probably Andy Moir in for Davey !

Heaver Bennett Sullivan

What , no room for Ray Carr or Russell Colcott ?! Cmon man !

Howe Watts Green

Jurrah Clark Davey

Jurrah Green

Clark

Howe Watts

Clark player a deep CHF/high FF role with the resting ruckman in the square and Jurrah and Green around them. Small forward/midfielder rotating through Sylvia/Trengove.

Howe and Watts are targets up the ground so that Clark doesn't have to venture far outside the 50. Petterd rotating through from midfield/bench.

Sylvia Clark Jetta/Davey Howe Green Jurrah; with Watts Petterd Trengove Martin Jamar all visiting regularly.

Good post re the contemporary look - i'd have a slightly different line-up but that's by the by .

Also , maybe our pick 36 in the draft ends up playing in the forward line all year - some 18yo's are ready to go - ya never know !

Jurrah and/or Watts could be really damaging further up the ground but I'm happy with your 6 .

ricky jackson is a must have in that forward line.............

Sylvia is our best shot at goal, our best over head mark at the club, is our only game breaker forward of the centre therefor is a must in out forward set up

He is there.

He should also be doing more than be a FP.

If he is to do, what Brent Moloney should he should do - win a Bluey, he is going to have to get the job done in the middle.

Colin Sylvia can be so much more than a FP.

If that is all he can excel at than what a waste of talent he will be.

Hf Lyon Carey Ablett

F Dunstall Lockett Farmer

Perfect only I'd sub Farmer for Daicos.

F Dunstall Lockett Farmer

I'd have Hudson before Lockett or Dunstall....best avg goals/game of the lot

Pretty sure thats stil the way a starting 18 is named. That set up is too top heavy (5 players 190+) and would struggle to provide the necessary defensive pressure.

Jurrah, Watts, and Howe are not exactly the prototype players for their height.

Jurrah should easily slip into a chest-to-the-goal player and be very effective. He should walk a lot smaller with Clark there...

Howe has had little trouble with the defensive stuff and has a great footy brain.

I understand where you are coming from - I would have Sylvia slip forward and allow Watts and Howe to do the heavy lifting up the ground. I find it sucha waste when Sylvia is taking lead-up marks 75m out. That kick should go to Watts or Howe and Colin should be streaming into the forward line from the midfield at the fall of the ball from the kick from Watts or Howe.

I think too much about this stuff...

I'm just getting ready for next year at my own team with a similar structure to this.

Keneally Jacobs Vagg

Lord Bourke Townsend

....was the last forward lineup that achieved what we all strive for, so beat that.

^^^^

agreed, Jamar is a terrible forward.

Has no forward smarts, kicking for goal is abysmal and doesn't take enough contested marks up front for his size.

People are still living off that Carlton game where he kicked 5 goals in 2009.
