Thank you.

And if you are being sarcastic you should get a little more confidence about you. It's very liberating being solely focused on how you do what you do :P

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate you're sentiment, just thought it was a bit over the top and even more-so now considering you'd not read the article.

Thanks for the advice too. A shrink on Demonland.

Goes to show how much credence I gave the whole affair.

Onwards and upwards. Not sideways. Like I said, nothing journo, from a nothing paper. I read things that are pertinent to the club, not hyperbole from a bitter hack.

Well that answers that, doesn't it? Kennett will have to name his source or lose whatever credibility he had left; not a lot I might add.

Good to see the Dee's saying something about this rubbish, again showing our united front and the fact that we are not going to put up with rubbish anymore. However, let that be the end of it, we don't need any negative publicity or a public row with Jeff after the momentum we have built over the last month or so!!

Kennett stooped to his lowest level when he tried to win points at our Jimmy's expense - see above link

I sent a nice little email to the Hawthorn fc to let him know how I felt - I'm not expecting a xmas card back !

Kennett & Denham i would say.....Both of them smell bad if this is a complete Beat Up.

The problem here is you have an Ego in Kennett who needs attention and a journo that needs a story. Kennett knows who to bait people and you will find he placed this in front of Denham and he bit hard.

Do you know what it keeps Melbourne in the News, the only club that has been in the news over the past week has been Melbourne with Mitch Clark.

So thank you Media and this just shows we are worth writing about even if is a nothing story's.

Thanks for that one, hadn't read it before.....Very Low act indeed.

In that same link he had some interesting things to say about Garry Lyon - another foot in mouth effort me thinks .

Who really cares? Someone approached Kennett to be President - big deal!

Yeah , every dog has his day .

2004 - We played finals after a 14/8 season - whilst the Hawks were busy tanking - they lost 12 of their last 14 games

And picked up Buddy and Roughy in that years draft - love reminding my Hawk mates of that one - tarnished 2008 flag !?

We'll be strong again soon enough - Kennett is now an irrelevance .

I agree, But it's the fact he has dug it up now...This is obviously old news if it happened at all.

Why did you dig it up Greg Denham, what purpose are you serving?

Are you putting the Boot into Jimmy or just a general Bash?? You are a Turd of the highest order...i recognize that deep little voice anywhere...

Maybe they didn't?

It is probably BS, and BS about the Presidency of this great club is always worth fighting, and even more so when Jim Stynes is your President.

I don't like BS.

We should call Kennett and The Ausrtalian out on it.

Will KB call Greg Denham out on this next week. He will say we approached Jeff and whe won't back down.

The thing is someone must have asked him because Jeff just wouldn't sit there and think I might make up a story about melbourne approaching me. Maybe someone did and doesnt have the guts to own up.

We'll someone did and I don't think Kennett is making it up. The club stated it was no-one from the board or no-one connected with it which I also believe. Clearly it was someone that probably wasn't directly invloved with the club that thought he'd do a good job. At the end of the day this entire story is a storm in a tea cup.

So Joe Gutnick asked Jeff Kennett to be President as he walked out the door ..... hardly news I would have thought

Maybe - most likely, even - Kennett was boozing it up with some Melbourne heavy hitters, one of whom said/joked/thought-out-loud: "Hey, Jeff old c0ck, I wish we had a president like you. You'd love to run the Dees. Give it a shot."

Yes, but it's our tea cup.

A journalist and a club president just metaphorically punched us in the face and we should probably break a nose or two.

If nothing else, it will make us feel better.

Agree. Do nothing and you stand for nothing according to some.

Yes, I would prefer we go too far, try to get Denham sacked, and get the holier-than-thou refrain from Patrick Smith that we acting like 'sullen bullies' or whatever grammatical flourish takes the fancy of this person who loves sport but hates everyone involved in it.

Sorry to turn this into Smith-bashing...

It is exactly what we need to find out....If we go in hard and then find out kennett was right....not good.

Yeah right. The Australian are going to sack Denham over something that most likely did happen!!! I'm sure there are more pressing matters the club need to deal with to be honest......... I despise Denham as much as the next person but to even suggest that Denham should be sacked over this is just ridiculous!

This has been going on all year. Lyon slammed Kennett on TFS following Kennett getting stuck into us about appointing Lyon.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
