Loving the new look baby

I am having trouble with the text editor putting in a link or image etc.. When I click on the link or image symbol, my browser window greys out like it's trying to load the link pop-up, but it doesn't pop up and the page hangs for ever. The only way to get out of it is to click on the browser back arrow.

Using Firefox 6 with Windows 7.

My overall impression is positive. But it does appear to be rather spread-out.

I think the look needs 'condensing' - smaller fonts and formatting with less spaces. Not having the over strident red/blue colour scheme is a positive tho'.

Excellent! I see our old Avatar's are back!

I like the new look... am I right that there is an iPhone App that can be used for the forums?

Great work Andy!

Gippy

My issue must be an IP Board v Firefox 6 one. I've checked it on Safari and Chrome, and the pop-up appears, although slightly delayed. On Firefox it never appears. I've made sure I've added demonland.com to the pop-up permissions, even tried it with the pop-up blocker turned off.

Might have to switch browsers for Demonland.

Andy... not wanting to tell you "how to" as i'm only a novice when it comes to CSS and web design, but any possibility you could try a fluid page layout using a percentage (%) or 0 under percentage in the CSS page wrap command? I think that might help the page auto re-size (scale) in almost any browser and screen resolution. One thing i enjoyed on the previous site was that it auto scaled (from memory i think so anyway) so i didn't need to use the bottom scroll bar to read the sentances in each post. They just fitted/scaled into the screen size (res). This might cause other significant issues of course so not expecting any miracles either.

Cheers. I can't check Windows 7 because I don't have it. I only have XP and a Mac for testing and trouble shooting. Can anyone else on Windows 7 confirm this so I can log a support issue. Cheers.

Ditto when editing a post Andy (i also use Windows 7....sorry Macs r nice but too costly for this demonoid lol). Can't save the edit as edit button doesn't work. Or maybe it's saving but wont move you out of edit mode and you then end up with a post each time you're trying to hit save button. I can't be sure of this though. I was hitting back key button as i couldn't get out of edit and then noticing multiple repeat of same post afterwards that i then had to scroll through to find and delete.

In addition just think the text boxs on each of the posts need a bigger/bolder border around them so that it contrasts as you're scrolling through. Atm i just feel each post blends a little with the next when you're scrolling through them.

I realise a major upgrade like this is very tricky and a work in progress over many weeks. Good job so far. Some nice tweeks like the multi quote option. Cheers

One minor thing.

I'm not a fan of the HOT next to the thread.

Nearly all threads are considered HOT...

And some of them so aren't?

Were you able to do this before? I know i can set it in the admin settings but can individual users do it customise their preferences. I know i can do it on other forums but not sure if we were ever able to do it here. Let me know and i will look into it.

We were able to do this under the old software. It would be great to be able to do it again.

I think thread over 10 replies is considered hot but that is probably a setting I can change. Thoughts on how many it should be before it is considered hot?

I think this is something I can change globally but obviously users can't customise this anymore.

Hi Andy, congrats on the new site, it's starting to look awesome. I love the "Like" button, however I have also come across a number of posts that could well do with a "Dislike" button too. Not sure if you are able to, but would be cool if not too difficult. Thanks for all the great work.

Glad you like it. Unfortunately the Dislike will not be happening. May I suggest using the ignore feautre where you can ignore certain posters.

I've been using XP today at work and I must say that websites (not just this one) look terrible when compared to a Mac or on the iPhone or iPad. Not trying to sound snobbish but they are worlds apart.

I have to get my hands on a computer with Vista or Windows 7 to see if there is any difference.

Good idea, thanks. I actually just came across the thread about the like button. Sorry. Feel free to delete my post on this thread.

I think over 100 is considered HOT. I reckon 90-95% of threads end up with over 10 posts.

edit: On quick reflection, perhaps 50+ would be the go. 100+ are rare - maybe they can be "steaming hot"

:)

depends more (I think) on how many posts over a certain short period rather than in total since thread start. e.g. 10 already today or 50 already in last nnn days etc

I tend to agree ..heat ought to reflect the rate of interest in a thread not any old number over any old time.

Still..I imagine theres manythings to attend to beffore we worry too much about this. Keep up the great work.

Cheers (smiley face lol )

Not sure if this has been asked, but can the thread name be made bigger than the name of the person who created it?

Love the upgrade otherwise.

That seems very strange. It makes the (sig) functionality redundant.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
