Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Get rid of the Collar

MFC please be rid of the guernsey collar for next year.

It services no practicality. It's a winter sport and players are not likely to get sun burn on the backs of their necks.

It's not a link back to a bygone era where 'collars' were a design norm - and as someone from the club, I believe, suggested in justifying it's purpose.

It has no visual appeal that I or my family of dee supporters can see.

It uses extra fabric which is unnecessary (not that that's a key point).

But lastly, a clean and simple V neck ribbing - with no collar - will give our glorious Melbourne jumper a stronger cleaner meaner line.

Over

Ur kidding me right mate? That's the best part of the jumper. It separates us from the rest of the comp, we are the oldest football club on the world with the most heritage and it helps us wear it proudly. On top of that it looks awesome. Next you'll be telling us to modernize our navy and dark red to something new?

Jeezus.

So Sully and coach saga over- now the pressing issues are fashions on the field?

What's happening around here?

I'm sorry you're suffering from projective identification mate ---- the reason the collar was put there in the first place was FOR fashion reasons.

Get rid of the collar and the players necks look larger/taller etc. Especially from behind.

Look at the header banner and tell me the Russian doesn't stand out, and not just because he has his mouth wider open.

There's at least an inch covering the backs of the players' necks.

I want our players necks and heads jumping out of their skins. Not a nancy boy collar that serves NO PURPOSE WHATSOEVER.

Get real get lean. Get rid of the collar!

Other posters who like it are obvious fashionistas.

It's not the collar that bothers me - it's the red that looks pink which is the issue - and what about that ridiculous clash/away strip ! Absolutely no need to ever wear anything other than our traditional outfit - let the other mobs change their strip - why can't we be stubborn ?

Agree! Although the collar must go! It's ridiculous!

However, the away strip is embarrassing and can go too!!!

If you think this is a poor thread then show courtsey and explain why.

Because I disgree with the OP and I think that most people will.

I love the collar, have been told the same by some opposition supporters who wish their club had the same, and I don't think there's any merit in the OP whatsoever.

And even if there was any merit in it, I think we'd have bigger issues to worry about, even if we confine it to the realm of the aesthetics of the jumper.

Thanks for the reply... every detail is important. You as a supporter, unless you're a club official unannounced, the 'bigger issues' you suggest we worry about has little to do with us.

As plain wrapped supporters we are privileges to allow our opinions to be aired - on sites like this.

Mine and my family (fellow dees supporters) think the collar is ridiculous, serves no purpose and, so far, there are no arguments to support it staying other than some people merely 'love' it.

Get rid of the collar and let the colours and a clean and mean line prevail / dominate and let the players necks stick out and show a bit more of the back bone. Simple.

The collar serves a relatively insignificant purpose in the scheme of things.

It's there for aesthetics, but also as an aesthetic link to our past.

It is one small thing, that along with a lot of other things, cumulatively link to the club's rich history.

It's important to promote the "story" of the club, and the collar does this in a small way.

Not to mention the fact that I think it looks GREAT.

If I had a choice between collar and no collar, I'd choose the collar every time.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
