I'm wanting Green to resign but it would have been nice if he had of said something in the media about scully, martin and morton. he still represents the players and I haven't heard a thing. Even trengove, morton, chippa, etc...have gone to twitter to make comment...I follow green on twitter and haven't heard a thing.

Are things that bad at melbourne ?

What have the players twitters been saying?

Disappointed, they understand, good luck, go dees in 2012.

That is as much as they have said and as much internet space as I will give to what they have said on twitter...

Biggest disappointment for me with scully going, was it meant GWS wouldn't be able to sign Morton as on of the 'out of contract' players. :(

Would havebeen nice to get, say, a 3rd rounder for him.

Ed: maybe that's why he was delaying signing; hoping he would get to Sydney?

A 3rd rounder for such an investment?

I don't know.

I heard that Morton was not happy with the way Bailey played him (when he was playing).

I would like to see what a new coach can do with Morton.

Me too, he was a number 4 pick.

I have the time for another year to see what develops.

I may be howled down for this, but I think Morton could be the next Adam Goodes.

Like Goodes though, he will take some time to develop.

laughed so hard a little bit of wee came out, seek professional help!!!!

Can anyone confirm if Green is contracted for next year?

If he isn't then isnt it strange that schwab said "we've re-signed everyone we want" or words to that effect.

I've heard on the grapevine that there may be bad blood between the two so is it possible that he will be playing elsewhere next year?

I'm really disappointed that some still feel the need to hang it on Morton given the events of today.

Morton was a puss before today, and is today and will be tomorrow. What events you talkin about? The disappointment gws took scully and not Morton? - I understand.

I believe Nasher is saying that we go on about loyalty, or the lack thereof, but when one player - often derided - decides to show some loyalty we don't show our appreciation for said loyalty.

I guess we only care about good players showing loyalty...

As long as the royals are loyal, the serfs can get stuffed.

I agree,

The guy has shown nothing but loyality to the MFC and because he has had an average season we want him to bugger off.

On that basis, Davey should tear up his contract for next year and Green should announce he is leaving the MFC to play with Greenvale because he had a bad year.

I am happy to give him another year no.4 draft picks do not grow on trees and he is only 21.

Yes. I thought players showing faith and loyalty to the club at exactly the same time that one of their higher profile team "mates" was giving us the bird was significant.

Nutbean's law of not potting under 23 year olds

Surprised to learn that Cale is only 21 and will be 22 next January

Stef Martin - surprise surprise - is 24 - coming into his prime.

Whilst unbelievably frustrating and has to make up ground quickly to justify his no 4 selection, Cale is 21 years old - may I direct your attention ( again ) to a 21 year old spud called Brendan Goddard.

Good point, although the club has informed as signing soon though...

I like Nutbean's laws, got any more in the pipe line ?

Sage advice Nutbean. Needs to make better decisions on field.

Don't get me wrong - I can list Cale's shortcomings in a succinct 3000 words essay. But I could have done the same with Stef Martin last year and the essay is much shorter this year as he is coming into his prime and Brendan Goddards essay from his 21st can now fit on the back of a postage stamp.

Every good scribe tells you that you must wait for footballers to mature - then you know what you will get. Wait for body maturity and development to take its course. The common theme is 23/24 of age.

We may look back in two years and say - Cale, what a waste. I think Cale has some really huge challenges ahead to make him worthy of a number 4 pick - but everything just may click for the lad. I'm just not prepared to toss him yet.

23/24?

Remind me what age Sylvia was at when he started to show something?

Cos I recall a month ago reading hordes of posters saying he was "the one player we cannot afford to loose" (sic).

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
