simma02 53 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I said earlier i liked what i saw in Spencer and " was looking forward to seeing him play when Jamar went down". His kicking is better not great imo. What was better was his marking, he is a HUGE kid now, took alot of marks and seemed like a target for Casey, looked ALOT better than Gawn on the day i saw him. 203cm 105kg seems pretty un pencil like to me I saw improvement, i also said he isnt a world better or anything but is from QLD, is getting quite large and improving and Brisbane need a backup ruck option If we could [censored] Spencer off to Brisbane I'd be ecstatic.. They've made some stupid moves recently - this would cap it off!!!
The Chazz 4,077 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Leunberger is the Ruck like Jamar compare them, people are talking about Clark as a forward so lets treat him that way? More than happy to treat him as a forward Jordie, becuase that's where he will play his best footy, especially if he were in a team, like Melbourne, where he isn't needed to play 1st or 2nd ruck. I have no doubt as a full forward, he has the capacity to kick 40+ a season. Add Jurrah's standard 30+, and I'd like to think Watts' 25+ from now on, we are starting to get a decent forward line. He is more value to us kicking 40 a season as Full Forward (which I have no doubt he can), than he would be playing 1st ruck.
jayceebee31 768 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 There are plenty of talls available. I'd sooner OhAilpin .And develop the young ones.I also feel we need a taller backman as well.
Tatu 416 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 If we manage to trade Clark in, i see him playing the ruck with Martin and Jamar going forward...or even better we could run them all through the forward line making us unpredictable.. He'd be a good get...

When we dont need a ruck i would hope so, If Clark can kick 40 a season then great sign him up, just not for 2 first rounders as that stupid SNF article suggested, pick 12 sure
iv'a worn smith 1,979 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I reckon the "go home" factor is the only thing standing in the way of a deal with us, but Brisbane have already said the Dockers offer is not good enough. If he doesn't go to us, then it's likely he will have to go into the draft and if that happens, the chances of him getting to Perth will be almost nil. IMO, we will snare him and there can only be positives come from such a deal. It is good to see us finally acting like a "real" AFL footy club.
s-t-i-n-g-a 439 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Question: when Clark plays forward is he more a lead up forward (that's what I recall but have not watched him too close). Or is he the pack marking type? I think the latter is what we need more for our structure. If he can do both even better!

He'll stay with Brisbane and try to get Freo next year before he signs with us..... Absolute waste of time.
Bates Mate 4,520 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 what about we offer up pick 12 to freo for ?? which they can use to get clark have freo got anything they would give up that we would want obviously Pav,Fyfe, Sandilands are off limits

Simma, you may well be right, but will you give me good odds on such an outcome? Brisbane, simply, are ready to deal, and they will.
Jesse Christ 2,884 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 He wants to go to WA, right? ......... so what the hell are we even contemplating him for? Case closed. Next!
The Great One 99 125 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Forgive me if this is stupid, because I dont follow how all the rules work. Can Clark still nominate for the November draft? In this case Freo pick him at #20. Dont think anyone would take him before then. Unless Sheedy decides to be dificult.
cowboy_from_hell 2,390 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 All this talk of trading for a forward as in Clark and that Irish bloke from St.Kilda can someone tell me how far off Lucas Cook. Anyone who has seen him play can you tell me will he debut next year or is he a couple of years off?
iv'a worn smith 1,979 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 He wants to go to WA, right? ......... so what the hell are we even contemplating him for? Case closed. Next! Because Brisbane will dictate the terms, if he departs them. If he goes in the draft, he will be picked up before the Eagles or Dockers even get to sniff at him.
simma02 53 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 He wants to go to WA, right? ......... so what the hell are we even contemplating him for? Case closed. Next! Absolutely!!!! I really don't know what Harrington is doing.
drdrake 3,203 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I think sometimes this I want to go home is just an excuse to get out of the club you are at. If we can land Mitch Clark, I don't think we will but at least we are having a crack, he is the tall option to create a contest up forward. He is the muscle up forward, the kick long option, the only issue he may have if he signs with Melbourne is he will feature in many mark of the year highlights as the step ladder for Jurrah/Petterd and Howe. He might be the first player that will need to wear padding accross his shoulders.
bing181 9,480 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 We're doing the right thing in enquiring, but if he wants to go back to Perth, he wants to go back to Perth. Nothing to see here I would have thought.
Demonator 93 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Absolutely!!!! I really don't know what Harrington is doing. He's landing that 'big fish!'
rpfc 29,042 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Absolutely!!!! I really don't know what Harrington is doing. He is trying to do his job. If that means getting rebuffed then at least he asked the question. I would be more annoyed if we didn't ask, then if we got beaten to the punch again. I care about getting sh!t done, not perceptions when we don't get sh!t done.
jacey 333 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Leunberger is the Ruck like Jamar compare them, people are talking about Clark as a forward so lets treat him that way? Mitch Clark played a lot of games forward this year with Leunberger. Same thing will happen in MFC. Looked a lot like a plug a hole forward which was a far cry from his break out near AA year in the ruck. Lots of talent Clark but IMO watching him this year, he is a kock tease so i hope we don't get him

This is the thing - we are not getting anything done! Missed out on the Mini Draft and now wasting time on a bloke that wants to live in WA and isn't that good. It's 4.20 pm on Thursday and so far we've got nothing! We've only got tomorrow and Monday. Time is ticking and we are wasting it.

DemonTux 97 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Why did the name brad ottens just spring to mind? Further, wish I knew how much a certain senior coach has to do with this...
Redleg 42,195 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 If Clark says no to us and insists he wants to go home or will stay at Lions I would offer our pick 12 to Freo for 16 and 20. I don't think dropping 4 spots would kill us and then we have another pick 4 spots later. I am sure Freo would do it in a heartbeat to get Clark.

I agree, and I think this is probably our 'fall back' option if clark says no to us.
