I am glad the situation has been taken out of our hands, because on one hand i would have appreciated the winning at all costs culture Lyon would have bought to the Demons, on the other, I can not stand the way the Saints play, and am glad he is not bringing that game style to Demonland.

I felt exactly the same way. If we could be guaranteed success with whatever choice we made, I would have chosen anyone over Lyon!!! Now let's hope the first part of my statement is correct!!!!

Freo's list is better / more advanced than ours.

Has nothing to do with it, he went behind everyone's back, even his own manager's and they have sacked him, he is going to get 7.5 mil over 5 years, we could not match that. Its only about money not what club or who has the better list its $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$dollars

I was never keen on him either, that boring negative gameplan, even St.Kilda supporters were'nt going to their own matches.

As opposed to our unique winning style of football.

I cant recall all the complaints when Nnorthey's teams used to win games by kicking less than 12 goals but it must have been deafening.

apparently this has been going on for weeks and we could not match any of the money Lyon is getting, he is getting deals with mining companies etc and will make twice as much as we could get him.

Without doubt.

Money talks.....

And he probably had to go it alone. His management group could hardly discuss it whilst also representing the coach he was about to replace.

How else could he have done it i wonder. Sack his (relatively new) management and appoint another in the space of a few weeks and try and involve them in the dealings whilst maintaining secrecy as well. Highly improbable.

Still.....not a good look.

Saints will be reeling and pretty bloody furious once the dust settles.

The club will struggle to attract a top line coach until all the off field issues are fully sorted and there is stability and unity of purpose around the place.

Anyone who thinks that was achieved by sacking Dean Bailey is living in fairy land imo.

You can forget about getting Malthouse. It aint gonna happen.

get balme or similar to replace cc. we might have to spend some decsent bucks to get the right person or can todd take this position?

As expected ESP, run by Craig Kelly, has terminated contract with Ross Lyon, What a day

Kelly triggered his own redundancy clause. Well done Craig.

Boy arranged for himself $7.5m over 5 years. Shafted his own blood sucker sorry manager who was looking after his affairs no wait they werent.

And a chance to coach for premiership with side whose era is just commencing.

Boy what a low down self interested cad. Actually bloody smart move on a number of fronts

Hey BD, maybe your missing something about Freo? Hmmm

Exactly why would you sign for another four years at St.kilda?? It is the end of their window for sure.

Ross is looking after himself, why should he worry if Harvey has the same management?

Freo - more money and shorter window to challenge if they had all key players fit.

They say they're in their window every year.

If Lyon can do something with Freo in the next 5 years I'd be impressed.

A case where the blood sucker, I mean manager had a clear conflict of interest and was unable to represent Lyon if Harvey was a client.

If anything Craig Kelly just looks redundant and Lyon looks uber smart.

The Saints look terrible out of this

Wrong.

In 2010, they rose from 14th to 6th.

In 2011 they were crippled by injuries and finished outside the 8. They were better than that.

Lyon approaches them and arranges a deal to coach them for 5 years after saying the Saints are at the end of an era.

If you think it is just the momey. Hmmm think again.

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
