I believe this is inflating the scorelines of the top teams who see a real purpose in winning ie finals position. There are just too many teams, once you drop off the peloton extra effort brings no reward. So I don't think the Demons are as bad as their scorlines would indicate, and our prospects have not sunk as low as we now tend to think. Our lack of at least one elite mid, and a forward to straighten us up is cruelling our team. bring back steven powell and neita. powell could get it out of the guts and neita could mark it.

or..........bring in a salary cap for the ENTIRE football department. players, coaches, equipment, the lot.

Fair points you make but don't you think the more financial clubs such as Collingwood & Essendonm have a strong advantage due to being able to spend many millions more on their football department?

Does not excuse losses to Richmond, StKilda, North Melbourne, Bulldogs etc. Our prospects are still quite good as long as we can shake our culture of mediocrity/losing, however this season has been an unacceptable backward step!

Melbourne has excellent training facilities...It doesn't take trips to Arizona to win a flag, it helps, but it's about creating the right environment. No excuses not to do it 200m down the road, so long as we're financially able to spend 100% of the current cap.

Yes freo, for this match at least are one of the lower clubs. They had 25 players fit for this match from their entire list. I reckon they have had the worst run with injury this year of any team in the last 2 decades. Shocking run. Blowouts will be a feature of football for the forseeable future when you pit young (or injury depleted sides) against fit strong, well drilled sides full of 100 plus gamers

As long as we are on the right side of the scoreline, I won't be complaining about blow outs.

I think your arguement suggests we have a poor attitude, we have had everything to play for up until last week as finals was always there for us. I was at the game last night and it was intriguing to watch. Collingwood as much as I hate to say it were awesome. They are big bodies and continually either break tackles or stand tackles and free their arms to dish off handballs. They all play to the structure and 99% of the time they play the percentages, rather than doing the flashy thing.

Fremantle are not short on schillachos and pay a fair amount of them on their football department, so it's not just a Collingwood thing with the money, but we have good facilities now and I think with the new sponsorship deal and off field stability we will start seeing more money spent in this area. I have said for a while we have talent just need to see our younger boys develop. The Collingwood, Geelong, Eagles and Hawks kids are no better than ours we just have more and we are not surrounded with quality mature bigger bodies

Can't do that. A club should be able to spend its money on SOMETHING. I mean, we cry poor because we have no money and can't have a department the same as Collingwood, all through our own club's complete and utter business incompetence.
