The Last Month

The last month of football for MFC has not been good.

Coming away with no victories and rather having 4 beltings has lead to wide abuse of the club and i keep hearing from opposition, friends and even supporters here that we are rubbish and miles away from being decent.

I honestly dont think the reality is as bad as everyone is making out. Yes we have lost a few but that reality with a developing list against some good teams.

For this reason iv had a look back at this years performances of all teams against the 4 teams we have played in WC, Geel, Hawth, Carlt.

These are the results:

Melb - 0 wins 7 loses

Coll - 4 wins 1 loss

Ess - 2 wins 1 draw 2 losses

Syd - 1 win 4 losses

Adel - 1 win 4 losses

Rich - 0 win 5 losses

Stk - 1 win 4 losses

Free - 0 win 6 losses

North Melb - 0 win 4 losses

Brisb - 0 win 3 losses

West Bull - 1 win 4 losses

Port - 0 win 6 losses

Gold Coast - 0 win 5 losses

Youl see that gold coast, melbourne, brisbane, port, north, freo, richmond (also carlton) have all gone winless against these teams.

Sydney, adel, saints and dogs all had 1 win.

Also over the past month no team has beaten these four in form teams

Obviously we have been well beaten rather than competitive but based on results, half the teams in the afl would have had a similar month (possibly even more accounting for those with 1 win four losses) if coupled with the inevitable loss of confidence that such a month would bring.

Just an observation, doesnt really count for so much but i dont think we are as far behind as everyone seems to think and lets hope to break the streak come Sunday.

C'mon really... There's optimism then there's psychosis

Feel free to continually beat on a bunch of kids who lost 4 games in a row to 4 of the top 5 teams

4 teams who have been unbeaten for the past month no matter who they played.

4 teams that have been beaten 10 times all year (other than by each other) and 4 of those were Collingwood.

Cheer up a bit

C'mon really... There's denial then there's psychosis

when will the denial and acceptance of mediocrity end

Your expectations are so low it's disturbing

We're beyond bad we are abhorrent on every level except for 3

Watts, Trengove and McKenzie

I take it you are saying we are terrible except these 3?

Do we take into account players who haven't been in best form but have shown in the past they can match it with the best. Those players were key last year and if they recaptured their form the team really would be quite competitive. So if we are up and going no we are not that bad.

Those players are: Frawley, Jamar, Davey, Grimes, Green, Sylvia.

Of those Green looks done and Sylvia may go. But the others still will bounce back and have plenty to give. You dont win AA for no reason.

Also think you are harsh on Tapscott in what has been his first real year of senior footy after injury.

Yes we are that bad as a team right now...The results do the talking.

Will the team improve?? I sure hope so with a lot of hard work.

That is the reality.

We may have improved in certain areas from last year, but the AFL competition has improved further.

As of now, we are that bad.

It is not the loss but the size of them.

Those stats do tend to debunk the theory about us having such a great fixture. We have played seven games against the top five which is more than anybody else to date this season. Imagine if the number was three or four as it is with some of the others. True, they've been been bad losses but we've been under pressure.

Incidentally, Carlton hasn't beaten any of the other top five teams either. Their record is 0-5.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
