Good morning to all you cold climate dwellers . Rather warmer here in Batu Feringgi and Your ever reliable Uncle is still enjoying "la dolce vita" as the frogs say. ( thanks again Earl)

A lovely dinner last night at a place that actually had a decent though previously unknown to me Aussie Shiraz . Quenched the thirst rather nicely. The evening was so pleasant in fact that I enjoyed a [censored] after dinner - a Chinese one would you believe.

A note for Pickett . I would consider your ideas re "Bitter Fence" on two provisos  1. You have nothing to do with the actual business  2. Since you could hardly provide intellect , you would be expected to provide the start up capital.

A note for Earl Hood. I trust you are entertaining your new business partners Earl. As I said interesting fellows.

On my recent holiday I was on a cruise with the owner of Baccardi Rum. He is a regular on these cruises. Next time we run into each other I will pitch him the concept of banana rum, it will revolutionize the world's drinking habits.

RL has Mr Biccardi still got old Fidel Castro in his sights for retribution?  It's been 60 years since the revolution and I think Bicardi, Hershy and the United Fruit Company still want their assets back. The Biccardi building in Havana is a masterpiece of Art Deco architecture.

Uncle, as they say every cloud has a silver lining, here I am holed up in my Wet Tropics rainforest hideaway with Conchita, North of The Daintree basking in 28 degree temperatures and humidity.

Certainly better here than freezing my you know what's in Melbourne. My Fitzroy and Surf Coast bastions have been overrun by Asian looking ruffians demanding money for what do you know why?

So I have retreated North and as you can see I have gone undercover in disguise.

For the record there has been no word from Hudson since he went to confront the ruffians in Fitzroy, seems like he has taken one for Team Hood!

Good man Hudson but he was close to retirement so better him than me as you would understand.

Now I don't mind a bit of French Food and have penchant for duck cooked in any way! But I was once tempted to try the "Snails" as an entre and like the time I overindulged in Quzo ( a separate time) was violently ill for days after. So both snails and Ouzo have been well and truly of my list for decades!!

I do cook an amazing Roast Quail in with redwine and blackcurent sauce which has been known to win high praise from my intellectually endowed friendship group! Not that they know Jack about quail!!

Sadly I am enjoying my last night in the warm bosom of Malaysia and must fly home in the am. There is a crisis at the Manor - apparently the heating has broken down in The lads' accommodation and they are quite distressed.

Are well all free things come to an end.

Im enjoying a Shiraz from "Cranswick" - a quaffer but as good as you'll get in Asia. Anyone know it - I've never heard of it.

i love Malaysia and my Bahasa Indonesia is working far better in Penang than KL. However my first visit to Shanghai will live long in my sodden memory - what a place!! The forest of high rise apartments was was breathtaking.

Three stories

1. I was out in the burbs looking for a particular market when I chanced upon a debaters corner!! There was a crowd of 2 or 3 hundred divided into about a dozen discussion groups. Each group had 2 clear protagonists and the crowd was showing either support or not for the strength of their arguments  I didn't understand a word but the intent was clear. I didn't realize such a forum existed although I doubt the issues were anti government.

2. Another market street in the old town. This fellow had a shop front into which a limited number of people were admitted and they appeared to be bidding on something or other. The fellow was good and had the crowd in a frenzy. Anyway this woman about 40 ran and approached her husband and held her hand out for money  He clearly refused so she gave him two smart whacks to the head. He bravely refused again so she unleashed a tirade of abuse and a flurry of blows. He took it stoically I must say. She then pulled his pocket open and took his money. After looking at it she gave him two more and marched back to the auction.

During this a child in a pusher was going hysterical.

It rather questions the myth of compliant Asian women!!!

3. Walking along a very busy Bund when a little boy about 3 was caught short! His mum was trying to get him to pee in a plastic bottle! The little bloke was having none of it. Funny viewing

Toodle pip folks    See you in Oz!!

How has Bitters avoided being thrown into a Malaysian lockup?

Given that Anwar Ibrahim has been locked up for alleged activities that would be minor offences on the Bitter list of interests. i  know he is not a politician but he is a white Australian who would not go unnoticed in the police state that is Malaysia.  I think it fortunate that he got out in time.

Apart from his own, of course.

Is it just me?

I have enjoyed the last two weeks.

No MFC games so the last weekend was very enjoyable.

Enjoyed watching a couple of games without the need to support the winner or loser.

However I can feel some tension coming on as I type quite often I think life would be way better if I did not support any individual team.

So am I the only one?

At the start of the year I thought we would win 10 games, on the  win list are 4 wins from 9 games.

Usually at this time of the year we are finished and I am in acceptance mode.

However this year wins are still possible and finishing 9th is not out of the equation.

The tension is rising I have just enjoyed no tension the last two weeks.

The good thing for me OD, is that I can look forward to a game of footy at the moment without being certain of a 100 point flogging. The bad thing is squandering a couple of chances we should have taken. The Essendrug game is still drives me to drink.

So, despite the improvement, I'm still disappointed because we should still be in the finals hunt.

Dear Bitters,

Thank you for the herbal remedy you sent from Northern China.

I awoke with a start at 5am and my IBS has cleared up but the same cannot be said for the toilet at the Gat.Powerful stuff.

Speaking of powerful stuff,

As I am unaccustomed to rising so early I switched on SEN for some tennis results.

Brett Phillips was reporting to some other twot and Dermie, the GOAT,when a player from Moldovia was mentioned.

They naturally defer to Professor Dermie for this one ,

"Moldovia Derm?" they humbly beg the all knowing(now) tennis officionado.

As if arising from a slumber Derm slowly proffers........"errr.......that's somewhere in the Balkans" (not quite).

"Speaking of the Balkans Bernard Tomic is in trouble again for swearing"

"But it wasn't in a language that anyone actually understands".Now turning his talents to linguistics.

Dermie then goes on to rate the merits of another Tennis players girlfriend before offering his thoughts on Tomics future to Brett.

"He'll need to stop the histrionics" .Indeed.

[censored]

I would be interested to hear Dermies theory on the Geopolitical repercussions of Brexit and its implications for the currency market.

Please tell me you made that up Biff. Surely professional broadcasters would not have such a conversation as this.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
