Biffen will be pleased to hear the Gat has failed to attract a developer willing to pay $11mill and, as a result, has been taken off the market.

I am worried it might spontaneously catch fire making the building a danger to the public and then needing to be demolished immediately. That would incidentedly lead to an increase in the value of the site. It's happened before apparently. If I was Biff I would be checking the batteries in my smoke detector.

Change of topic ....Halloween. What a wonderful night I set the dog onto little kids as they come up the drive. He knocks them over, terrifies them  and makes them cry. I've got a terrific picture if I can post it.

Anyway back to it.

24 had to russell this number up.

Not a day to jay walk.

Couple of dozen hogans.

Just watched Frankie Detori's ride on Wicklow Brave. FMD. Let's go three deep for the first 1500. Thought Shane Dye's ride on Veandercross would take some beating as worst ride of all time. But I no complain.

Certainly did the horse no favours.

Great to see the battlers win another Melbourne Cup, full of international horses.

Given we are now down to 2 picks at the draft starting at 47, it is clear the club place little weight on this draft and therefore why should we, so that was my last post on the countdown. Anyone more interested than me is welcome to continue it.

Those two picks might turn out to be champions or they might have fathers who weigh more than 200kg.

You can't walk out on us now.

Let's see what tomorrow brings.

Strange dream last night. Had a vision of Biffen being thrown in jail for armed robbery and BBO owning 2 investment properties which he was running as brothels. Probably not such a stretch from the truth really. Odd dream nevertheless.

Nah, I'm finished with brothels Moonie. My investment properties are either going to be BDSM clubs or places for failed musicians. You know, knuckleheads who think they can play the guitar etc.

21 should use the pedometer to count down the last 3 weeks,  but who cares anyway?

That's a bit harsh Uncle Bitters. You know Biffen still harbours hope of his acoustic career taking off. Sad to see a middle aged man hanging around pubs with a guitar trying to act like he's 20 again. Next he'll be getting onto Hirdy's anti aging gear.

As usual certain nefarious elements like to mock a man when he is absent for rehabilitation .

I have used my time in the naughty corner to learn another chord which I will be melding in to my repotoire.

Kim Bai yah thankfully requires only 1 chord.

I have learnt through medititation, moderator , mediation and medication that childish taunts can not upset me.

I am mildly upset that nobody expressed anywhere near enough grief at my enforced absence although the various mental ailments most of you carry must make it difficult to have any regard for anyone  but yourselves.

I detected a waining interest in the Draft period this year Mr. leg.

I view that as good news.

Our year is not hanging on a first round draft selection.

Now Moon I'm not sure what you're on about.

I can't believe that middle age blokes with no talent hang around pubs and try to play music. Who would take them seriously ?

I hope he has a plan B as his guitar work is average and his voice is flat. However, that could be the halitosis affecting the mic

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
