another exciting trade day

if the afl have any brains they will extend trade period to 3 weeks and start a trade tv channel in full hd

1. Your premise is false.

2. Really? You must be magnificently bored ... It would be more exciting to watch Biff entertaining the lads ... :)

Only if 7 is excluded.

had a break for half an hour and watched 2 flies on the wall

flies were more entertaining than trade

Hoping for a miracle, an ice breaker, a 3rd party, .... something..

Off topic.....

Any 'Back to The Future' watchers and/or history buffs?

Chicago Cubs - 107 yrs since having won the world series. In the movie, one of the characters got hold of a Sports Almanac, went back to the past and loaded up on the Cubs when it got to 2015 - knowing that they'd won as a 200-1 shot.

In real life now - 2015 - the Cubs have now made their divisional final and aren't all that far from the World Series.

Thought I'd share.

You can all have that 1 minute back now.......#tradeweekboredom

Or split personality

Is it Christian Doppler?

Apparently I have an assistant.

Cheers. Plenty of countdowns on this thread.

Just thought I'd re-visit the first several pages of this thread. Below is the post that started the banana talk. Much better prices nowadays. Think making a smoothie now will kill some trade time and satisfy the tastebuds: -

Pods and some other senior player are 50/50 for this week. Pods could be rested and out for Mooney.

What's with banana's at $14.00 P/kg these days ? Don't tell me the carbon tax is up and running already....

So much anger on the Trade Board. Obviously banana deprivation.

New Zealanders masquerading as Australians to be removed ,visas cancelled.

Sanity prevails.

I expect our economy to improve immediately.

Well done DIAC!!

Truer words have never been spoken.

I am off for breakfast with Mrs. Redleg. Nice banana smoothie is already in my thoughts.

Interesting experience yesterday I am keen basket ball follower and for many years I was a Tigers member.

When the Tigers became Melbourne United I lost a lot of interest in the NBL.

So after good results in the pre season competition and two from two wins in the season proper I decided to go last night.

The United won again and even at this stage look to be good chances to go all the way this season.

It was a good game but I found myself an on looker rather than being involved with the team.

I was purely an observer.

I just cannot get involved the way i used with the Tigers.

There is talk of the TIGERS returning in a few seasons time, that looks a pipe dream to me.

Also I am not sure how you barrack for the "United" !

I drove home thinking this game confirmed why I still follow AFL

My team is still there. If the Dees were to fold I would be an observer of AFL.

PS there was a very good crowd which just shows people will follow winnners even when they they have no history, have a god awful strip and no emblem as such.

People like to win. They also don't enjoy losing a whole lot, but i suppose you can be philosophical about it ( or just resigned lol )

I like to win, to revel in the euphoria. Might even happen with the Dees, but I'm philosophical

Speaking of winning.

The trifecta will be from 2,10,17 and 6 .

Believe me,the punt has made me the man I am today.

Yeah too many monkeys and not enough bananas ... How was the smoothie?

I am with you on that one, OD. I can;t get into the United, no matter how many games they win. The Melbourne Tigers were a real club, with history, feeder programs, good links between layers (like NBL players coaching juniors), and all that goes with it. United? Sounds like a synthetic bunch with no appeal for me.

going synthetic like the afl, r+b?

For the next 6½ hours it's still Saturday.

Have I missed something?

redleg is just paranoid some other countdown upstart might usurp him

before long we'll probably be days if not weeks ahead

Perhaps that explains why my financial status (and social status) plummets whenever I visit the Gat.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
