Tom Scully

Featured Replies

Why are we regurgitating yesterday's news re Lynch? He said nothing new and there was no backflip ok? Done and dusted.

Now can someone please produce a new BS rumour along the lines of "Scully's best friend's failed business partner's pool cleaner's girlfriend told my sister's hairdresser's dog walker that Scully's grandmother told the local butcher that Scully was either staying or going but can't remember which one it was" so I can waste more of my life reading this thread about 50 times a day?

Cheers

Someone's grumpy.

rick olerenshaw has told me personally that Scully is going

Threw the bait out and you snagged a few

Some of you need to lay off the Haterade RE: Freak.

There's a very strong chance he's going to go. Some of you are going to be wrecks if (when) he does.

I wonder what Wolfmother's hunch is about Scully next year? Care to indulge WM?

I think he wants to stay and my gut feel is that he will it all depends on GWS though...

Every man has his price and if GWS want him bad enough they can get him like any player in the AFL. Tom hasn't been approached so its not like he is sitting their saying which do I take, I think he really intends to re-sign with Melbourne but until GWS play their hand you never know.

Watch the Film..."The Magic Christian" starring Peter Sellers & Ringo Starr. It deals with this exact subject, in a very humorous way.. B)

Scully stays, Morton goes! End of story!!!

This is my feeling too. If he goes, it really will be because the money was once in a lifetime. You cannot blame him, he is (may be) put in a very difficult situation soon. I still have my doubts that Scully is the #1 player they are after. He is only in his second season and he missed 8 or so games with a bad knee already.

Isn't it great to see all these big names linked to GWS, they must have been knocked back by so many players that the only players even considering going are basically kids, that will add to the kids they draft. No dis-respect to Scully or Ward or even Walker you are not talking match winners here, you are talking a hot and cold forward and 2 young players with potential that if the rumours are true GWS are willing to pay them more than best players in the AFL.

In The Hun today...

"Anderson questioned a reported ultimatum by saying no player could sign a contract or reach a heads of agreement during the season.

Agreements could be signed only in the October window last year - and that did not happen in Ward's case.

"You cannot enter into a new contact or agreement through the season," Anderson said."

If this has indeed happened with Scully (moreso a Heads of Agreement), GWS have broken rules. So....

So what?

It's a rumour.

And one that Tom is telling you isn't true.

Is that the same October when Scully rushed back from the China trip?

Ok, that is the fourth reason I have heard for Tom rushing back from China;

1. He had a family emergency.

2. He was unhappy with the boozy culture on the trip.

3. He was homesick.

4. He went home to sign for GWS.

Maybe they are all true.

Maybe they are all BS.

Tom told us it was BS, but why would anyone take the word of an honest, 19 year old Tom Scully on face value when there is so much speculation to believe?

Is that the same October when Scully rushed back from the China trip?

Yep.

Nice way to fuel the fire J-Riv.....

So the only possible time Scully could have signed anything is Oct last year and both he and his manager have repeatedly said that he hasn't signed anything.

All that HOA stuff has been proven to be shite.

So where are all these impeccable sources who've said he's signed now?

Eddie's at it again -" Melbourne Victory have definately signed Harry Keweel". Quickly denied by his management

Haha Calm down people I was just playing. Im just over it all now. If he stays then great if he doesn't well see ya later, we're going places regardless

When it comes to Scully threads I am not in any mode other than squash and eviscerate.

And being so blase about Scully doesn't do him any justice - we need him.

Yes, we will good without him.

But we will be scary with him.

RPFC I like your passion and of course I want him to stay, he will be great player but not you or I can do a thing about it. Let's just let it play out and see how it goes. No point getting stressed about things we can't control

This is the most frustrating aspect. I have no doubt this current list is destined for great things, but there is no denying that losing Scully will influence just how great the team can become.

hahaha, this whole thread is designed to get stressed about things that cant be controlled....

Someone needs to start a Scully Threads Anonymous group.

"Hi my name's Mordja and its been 2 days since I looked at a Scully thread..."

rpfc is fighting the good fight hosing down destructive rumours like "Tom has signed with GWS" or "Tom is going to Richmond". They are the weapons of GWS and other forces hostile to MFC and are designed to cause discontent in the MFC supporter base to try to drive a wedge between us and Tom. The reverse is what will make him stay - our unconditional support.

You've posted that supporters cannot make a difference to his decision, but I disagree, we can make a positive difference and we can definitely make a negative difference.

Nicknames for Scully

Agree 100% - ( and i would have added "weapons of GWS, other forces hostile to MFC and the media circus willing to grab at any whisper, rumour and innuendo either to pump up the writers/presenters own tyres or to sell more papers/attract more viewers)

Edit - although semi tongue in cheek on AFL 360 on fox Whately and Robbo announced they will have a Scully update every week and call it scullduggery or Tomfoolery. Boring!

I can control the insinuations that Tom is a liar by telling people off about it.

And I choose to do that.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
