The filth supporters i've sent it too have had a bit of a laugh.

I reckon it'll be viewed as being high contact (two points), low impact (one point), reckless (two points) and on Clinton Jones (minus 5 points).

Disagree with last one, change that to 'by Collingwood player' (negates all previous points).

Anyway, for those who haven't seen it:

Listened to a number experts on this on television/radio, and am yet to hear one say he will get off. Most think it will be ar least two.

This means they will be without both Thomas and Swann. A huge loss to their mid field.

Let's hope we don't have any poor luck leading in.

Before I saw the vision of the incident I thought to myself that this would be yet another incident where a punch thrown in the play would be given the benefit of the doubt by the MRP by them citing "insufficient force", an absence of intention or something like that but this looks at the very least reckless and it did draw blood (but didn't Judd get away with it after drawing blood against Freo last year?). Anyway, the media are onto it and it remains to be seen whether the call of "nothing in it" from the Magpie camp will prevail.

According to an article in today's Herald Sun - Collingwood could be depleted for Monday's clash with Melbourne

Thomas was caught on camera throwing a left round-arm punch at Jones after a tackle in the second quarter at the MCG on Saturday night.

He followed with the illegal action after his tackle on Jones from behind jolted the ball free.

Jones, who tagged Thomas in the first half, was forced off the ground shortly after the incident.

He was treated on the Saints' bench for a cut lip before he returned to play on Thomas until halftime.

There's not all that much leeway for the MRP to avoid giving Thomas a holiday there but, some believe that he's a chance for a Brownlow so who knows what thought processes might be involved to prove yet again the inconsistency of the MRP?

He should get a week at least but since the punch did not seem particularly forceful they'll offer him 97.5 points with an early plea and no games missed.

That is despite the fact the MRP owes us.

Anyone else notice that the panel that outed Trengove on the eve of our game against Norf included Wayne Schimmelbusch? Just another AFL conflict of interest that goes unremarked.

Intentional/Medium Impact/High Contact should result in a Level 4 Offence and 325 Demerit Points.

With an Early Plea Reduction this is two matches. No arguments to be made.

Here is how Round Robbo rated the hit:

8. Dale Thomas

Gun, but sucked in. Very poor choice by Thomas to round-house his tagger, Clint Jones, from behind, to the head, with a closed left fist. Intentional. High. Behind the play. Medium to high impact. Doesn't look good. It's been noted he might've retaliated, and if so that's between him and Jones, but a king-hit? Wonder if the whole story will emerge, or Thomas and the Magpies, will keep mum.

Would anyone be surprised if Thomas got "careless, high, in play, low impact"? If a bloke is having a great season, the Match Review Fiasco looks to get him off. Call it Judd's Law.

Jones had to go off with bleeding to his lips as a direct result of the hit. If the MRP is going to be consistent in rubbing out players because their hits cause injury, then he HAS to go.

if he doesnt get 2 weeks minimum then theres only one logical conclusion. In all seriousness corruption is rife in the AFL.

They are two seperate true statements, especially the latter.

The MRP IS flawed, and DOES NOT apply its so called justice even handedly.

The classic was Judd vs Pavlich last year - no case to answer!!!!

And maybe if you beleive in Santa and the Easter Bunny, you would also believe that nobody knows the Brownlow count progressively.

Every decision that gets handed down makes the Trengove decision more and more farcical. Thomas 1 week for that deliberate snipe. ridiculous. At least he is out this week.

Well, it's two weeks but can be reduced to 1 with an early plea... just like Trengoves could've been 2 weeks.

Good news for us at least.

Very good... unlikely to challenge and win..... so we would be playing as weak a Collingwood side as we could hope to play.

Pretty good timing to face the pies. Our best young midfielders all back in the side and gunning it, whilst 3 pies first choice mids are gone (Swan, Thomas, Beams). Potential for Gawn and Martin to do a job in the ruck too, as Wood isn't top notch and is a bit of a rake like Gawn. Stef can do a job on Leigh Brown (both in the ruck AND when Brown goes forward).
