No I rate Geelong very highly. Ablett left after achieving plenty and falling out with the coach. Very different to leaving because a club's culture is sick.

It's not about impatience it's about belief and we don't have it.... plain and simple... We're losers and we know it.

Convenient and timely shift of the goal posts.

Judging by what you've just said, you're a loser and you know it.

You have the same attitude that you are lambasting.

Happily, I don't.

Happily, I don't.

I didn't change the goalposts and maybe I am a loser for supporting this irrelevant club.

My attitude is entirely different to the club and will remain that way for awhile yet.

I'm under no illusions that Morton might be a fantastic player at another club... because we have proven time and again that we can't produce topline players due to the fact we have no money and a rubbish culture. Very hard to pin it on individuals and their attitudes etc when they are part of organisation with a track record for failure

While I understadn the isue with our track record, an individuals attitude is exactly that.....

A player, any player has control of their own attitude and desire to get the job done.

I get that it is harder in a developing side with a poor record but you can still want to get it done.

We most certainly are right now, those who wish to hide from the reality feel free.

But there are some of us who will continue to make noise until this club can stand tall at Etihad, Kardinia Park, AAMi Stadium, Subiaco, & wherever else the AFL send us.

Until we get the right Culture, Good Talented boys will leave the MFC and go to our opposition, because they become better players. I hate it, but it's true.

Remember Tony Elshaugh & Alan Ezard....Both started at Melbourne left early and played in Essendon Flags....just one example there peeps....Stan, Crackers...they all left.

It would be a huge mistake to trade Morton now.

He isn't going anywhere.

At what point WOULD uou consider him tradable ?

Guest Artie Bucco

Obviously it's all dependent on what is being offered for him.

Posted

I would consider any trade in or below the teens for the player.

If I take an honest look at him I still cannot see him as a really valuable asset on the ground in any particular position.

A floating half back flanker is about the best I can come up with. Just my take, fire at will.

If we had a variety of tall, athletic, elite runners with good skills like Morton, who can play multiple roles, I'd consider trading him.

You trade surplus, Morton is not surplus.

swap him for his brother!!

no thanks, would rather get frustrated with Cale than go for his brothers

This the crux. Again it'll be a skewed compromised draft. Teams might get antsy

Am not advocarting an "open for business" sign to be erected ( just yet ) but certainly if 'your' ppl want to have lunch with someone who knows 'our' ppl ...well........

we're listening

I think Morton is very valuable.

He doesn't have any glaring physical or skill limitations.

At the moment it is all mental, and the coaches are there to weed the bad traits out of him, in good time.

That will happen.

I'd be hesitant to accept anything less than a top 5 pick for him, if he demanded a trade.

NB. Sorry belzebub59, what is going on at the bottom of your posts?

All very humorous, but is it necessary?

Every post you make takes up half the page.

This is demonland, not facebook.

You trade surplus, Morton is not surplus.

you also trade when you feel you might not quite get what youve anticipated...or when something even more interesting ( to you ) might ccme on the market.

Morton's not a little boy. But he certainly doesnt impose himself on a game like he ought to be by now. Hes over the magic 50 mark and he seems to float in and out liek the tide at times. He needs to watch a lot of Flower vids to seee how to immerse yourself into and effect a game. Morton plays too outside most the time.

We have an almost ( well once thought of ) abundance of mid talent.. But is it really just a lot of middle of the road talent ??

Where do we fit in all the likes of Trengove , Scully ( we'll assume ) Tapscott. Grimes, Moloney, Gysberts, Jones, Blease ( though concede intitally a flanker probably ) Jordie...let alone the likes of Bail..or evenEvans later on...Im not even worrying over Sylvia and Green or Davey here..

Right now if I had to pick one out of Bail and Morton...id keep Bail

Mortons position is overcomable.. He hasnt made himself any where hear indispensable , yet ( if ever )

Anyway, a few things I want to question about the article:

- where has Gotch said that Morton lacked motivation, beyond Ralph lazily making that claim with no quote to back it up?

Gotch actually reported being pleased with Morton's attitude on the MFC website.

- which "rivals" are circling?

Surely if Ralph knows they are circling, he must know their identity?

If he knew their identity, why on earth would he not name them?

- Jon Ralph says that Morton "again struggled for Casey Scorpions on the weekend".

Is that why he was named in the best?

28 touches and 5 tackles?

Gotch question Cale in the game after Wet Toast.. he commended him for his improvement this past game..

Going by the article Cale has written on the MFC website, his attitude has been sufficiently adjusted.

Now he just needs to work on those aspects.

NB. When he talks about the attitudes of all players changing, he's really talking about his own approach to the game.

Of course clubs would be looking at an out of contract player of Morton's quality.

The fact that Morton is playing for Casey means he's struggling... simple

Cale has it alll before him...if he gets his act together. But hes not where Id hoped for ater 50 games. He's slipped back a bit for mine. Still, he can make ammends for sure.

Hes not on my 'have to keep " list.

Struggling?

Or just sent back to work on some aspects of his game at Casey?

Just like Petterd a couple of weeks before?

Who then came back and showed great form against Adelaide?

Or just continuing his natural development like many other players his age, taken in the same draft?

Even those who haven't been burdened by starting out with the body of a size 0 model?

It's all about patience and simple understanding.

He should be on the list becasue hes really come on and taken the next step..... he's tripped !!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
