Ours was the 3rd worst performance from the 7 matches this week IMO.

I think it was the 2nd worst, and the least expected/explained/acceptable.

GC are going to struggle, we know that, Lions are without Brown and are in a full on rebuild mode after ruining their list. Port are the same.

I have no reasons to explain logically why we sucked so badly (lost yes, limped onto the field to get smashed, no)!

Yes, it was each of those things.

But for Port Adelaide, a proud club who a fortnight ago beat Adelaide in the local Showdown, to lose to Gold Coast after being 40 points up at 3/4 time - a loss that would have torn at the very fabric of the club and forced everyone at the club to expect so much more the next week and to make amends for what was one of the worst losses of any team in the last few years (if not the worst) and arguably worse than their 2007 GF display - to come out the next week and play against a team without a win who is certainly not better than them and to lose by 10 goals is an absolute disgrace.

I bet my life that if we had have lost to GC, the next week we'd put in a red hot performance (at least in terms of effort). I'm quite confident we will do that on Sunday, which annoys me as well as it's something that any player of any experience can do regularly. You shouldn't need a bake or a poor effort to play hard the next week.

And if someone says that our performance was worse than Gold Coast's today, well that is just self loathing at its highest.

I don't think Port have recovered from that 2007 GF loss...i think it has cut the whole club down psychologically.

Oh gee now I feel so much better.

And Here I was thinking we only had GC below us.

It is very comforting to know that GS and Port are below us.

That puts us in a different postion altogether.

There are now only 14 teams above us

There goes our once in a decade chance to lose the 190pt record margin.

Only time that it has been even seriously threatened that I can think of is when Brisbane Bears were 160 points up at 3/4 time against Sydney in 1992 or 1993, when Brisbane Lions were 110 up on Freo at half time in 1999 and the Geelong/Richmond debacle of a few years back.

CG still have to play Collingwood, Geelong and Hawthorn.

There is still a chance!

I would be shocked if Collingwood didn't beat them by 150+ plus, and if Buddy doesn't kick 10 against them.

Yep, fair point. Needs a second half avalanche so they've got no time stop it. 15 goals in the last quarter would be more helpful to our cause.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
