Captains lead...i.e they captain.. I know this sounds harsh but whats he done?

Last year he did many of those 1% things...all the stuff for which many of us thought would make him particularly suited to the leaders role.

Have seen bugger all this year.. Just saying what Im seeing :(

The next 4 weeks will sort us out.

Adelaide at the G

North at Etihad

St.Kilda at Etihad

Carlton Friday night at the G

Back that up with a Friday night against the Bombers, and Queens Bday, and we will know exactly where things are at.

Cheap talk, fluffy media pieces, TV appearances, backing the coach publicly, etc etc will mean absolutely nothing.

Actions speak louder than words, and if the team doesn't fire over this period, then the team will seal the coaches fate.

Brad Green - "hopefully you will see a competitive Melbourne outfit running out there on Sunday".

Hopefully :(

A little bit more than hope Brad. I expect it and would've thought they would be the words being trotted out, not hopefully.

Good Call, the leadership group certainly doesn't appear to have drawn a line in the sand in regards to next weeks game as yet. We probably shouldn't read too much into whats said at a press conference, but you would like to hear something a lot more definative than 'hoping' for a more competive effort from the captain.

Another thing, didn't the leadership group get together last year following the Hawthorn loss in Round 1 and agreed to put in a much better effort that saw us almost beat the eventual premiers and then win three games on the trot?

I'm disgusted that Brad Green was on TV.

What he should have been doing was training.

In fact, the entire team should have gone on a 24/7 train-a-thon until next week's game.

(In case you're wondering, of course they shouldn't be training 24/7 - they should also be visiting hospitals and schools spruiking the Club).

I'll raise you with the point that (I heard from a sauce) he has apparently been spending some time with his baby. Trash captain. He should be out on the source with his mates at the pub like a real captain.

The main man is under the pump, He has one of the hardest jobs in AFL right now, right behind DB (thats another story), So brad yes he has been playing poorly,if you can even call it playing...but i will give him a bit more time than 5 games.

He is our only Veteran and everybody wants him to lead from the front, as should be expected, but MFC is thin on leaders... what do we have 4 players older than 26? Brad is leading a few pushing [censored] up a hill right now, and cops it when 18/22 play like crap.

Brad has some runs on the board, and people are very willing to forget what he has done as recently as last year for the MFC, was in the tram of 40 for the AA team missing the final cut. Top 5 in goal kicking or something

Anyone who has written the man off please remember,

THE CREAM ALWAYS RISES TO THE TOP

Go brad, but please pull it out

i said that the cream always rises and today it started to, one good performance is ok but he really did lead from the front today, was super happy with what he gave MFC today

Still can't believe our captain was on tv.

I can't believe our captain wasn't on TV this week. It's a disgrace. I bet he was at home, eating a pie AND CHIPS (with his ex-teammate Simon Buckley). If we lose next match it'll be because he couldn't be bothered fronting up on TV this week.

Yeah, he was better this week, but...

Where the frack was Tom Scully?!

?!

He was there with that solo singer Robbo, tell'n him how good the Casey initiative is with the club and how important it is for the community, and you know, like, because he comes from that area, and like.. so it's important to him too..and all that jazz.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
