I really hate this aspect of the GWS and GC formation. I think it is sad that clubs fans, even those of Carlton who lets face it, we aren't too fond of, have to deal with a year of speculation and underhanded dealings only to find one of their stars is gone.

While Carlton have gotten more service from Murphy than we have from Scully so far I would really feel for Carlton if they lost him as he was one of their first draft picks earnt during one of the darkest periods for their club.

I will be siding with any club that is poached by GWS as I think the formation of a new club is fine only if we aren't hindering the original clubs to ensure their success and that the way concessions have been implemented causes pain for the clubs, players and fans involved...

Got me with him, though to the other poster, Shaun Grigg was traded for Collins. Perhaps i should have added the word "star" before players. I don't think they will let any star player they want to keep go to another club.

Wouldn't be a trade, that's the thing. Same as all the other player moves, it'd be a snatch and grab.

I noticed on the Footy Show last week, that when talking about players going to GWS (they were grilling Thomas as he was on the panel), Scully didn't even get mentioned. For someone who was apparently 'gone', it was odd that he didn't even get spoken about. Damian Barrett also mentioned that GWS were having a hard time signing any players and that they had conceded that their best option would be to put pressure on clubs to pay big $ now, making it easier at the end of need year.

The biggest problem GWS will face is their location

Murphy has already shown his hand on location when he had the option of being at Brisbane under the father and son rule

Instead he chose Carlton who picked him up as priority pick #1

what i do consider however is that it will only be money that makes him move to GWS

Pretty sure his father John has alot of influence on his contract negotiations

Meaningless. Sheedy has for years played a game of not always telling the truth. I'm not criticising him - everyone involved in football understands that it's all part of the bigger game. Some are just better at it than others.
