Jamar...underneath the radar ?

Six Ruckmen on the Radar

and amazingly this article fails to mention AA Ruckman, Demon Mark Jamar !!

Are we as a team just not still anyones cup of tea ?

Is the Herald losing its touch ?

Is the article somewhat weighted purely for impact...or just igmorant ?

The only real comp for Russian is Sandilands...maybe I should be happy others still havent come to terms with that :)

I think that you will find that the article focuses more on the players that tend to rack up the super coach points. whilst Jamar had a significant impact on games, his supercoach/dreamteam numbers were not always that high... Jamar was sixth highest of the recognized ruckman in terms of average score over the season last year...

The article in that manner makes not a lot of sense , imho.

It rates Fraser...come on !!! lol Ushers in Smith whos done what exactly ??

Jamar was the leagues #2 ruckman for 2010. He went under th eradar for many last year as they simply didnt rate him...hell many of us were just as surprised ( happily ) as to the manner in which he stepped up during the season. He ought to by rights even refine his craft and polish his form further in 2011.

To not mention him is , for mine, plain dumb and ignorant.

How can you seriously rate a ruckman whos been dumped from one team and only really gets a gig at the other for doing a Bradbury really. GC couldnt get anyone better and they'll be crucified at teh bounce all year as a result... Good !! :)

and doing so accomplishes exactly what ??

My contention.. which seems to escape.. is that why would you not consider Jamar in the up and coming season as value in Supercoach..esp when compared to others.

If his value was underated or not fleshed out in 2010 it ought to most certainly be in 2011.

So Thomo..what exactly is YOUR point

cheers

It's stating the six players who will score high (Sandilands, Mumford, Jolly) or could give you value (Fraser, Petrie, Smith). Jamar completely deserve his AA, but scoring Supercoach points isn't a necessity to be picked as an AA.

And personally, I've got Sandilands and Jolly. :)

Jamar was brilliant value last year as 2nd ruck , I couldn't have been happier .

This year I'll be going again with Sandilands 1st and try to pick another value second ruck ... won't be Jamar .

heres an idea...use more words.. Construct a point of your own..and explain it.

Again..ive reread his post but it goes nowhere in acknowledging any value that Jamar ought to have in 2011..

Why should he have more Supercoach value in 2011? Do you think he's going to change his game in a way that will result in more Supercoach points?

Beyond the sarcasm I'd suggest he and thereby his consistency etc is better known now to the many than say at this time last year. PN that basis I would have thought he'd be valued higher.

Jamar is currently the 2nd best ruckman going round. In my opinion anyway...

But I still wouldn't pick him in 'supercoach'. Such a high price tag that I'm not willing to go for. After all, he really has had only one good season.

His AA selection is a good enough representation of the respect the footy community has for him.

There's no sarcasm at all in my post - it was a genuine question.

I imagine Jamar could well be valued higher after an AA year, but that also means his price would increase accordingly.

IMO the only way Jamar will score significantly higher in Supercoach this year than last is if he changes his game style to one that would earn more points.

Have you played Supercoach?

Good question. The article is all about Supercoach, but bb's posts don't seem to reference/engage with that at all.

To be honest I don't play it . Can't be bothered. A couple of good mates do.

Mumford is at about 450 ... Jamar at 400 Jolly at 388 Sandilands at 550

Russian is pretty good value

obviously youre challenged. Have yo any real thoughts ? Can you express them ??

I can read perfectly well what 16 says. It is his opinion.. 2010 was 2010 .. to rate Jamar as being lesser value than some of those others is , to me, stupid. Given costings and bang for buck Jamar will out gun Fraser..( useless) Mumford.. not bad on day but not as polished. . Do you get that ??

Why would you even bother picking a kid who'll get smashed ?

cant wait for your reply.... Im guessing i know it already

The basic tenet of the piece is 'how can you play SuperCoach well' and that means Jamar has to compete with lesser ruckmen to get cheap kicks and marks and therefore they are saying he isn't a good a value pick for a SuperCoach team.

The way they do the scoring is better than DreamTeam which just awards points for kicks and handballs no matter where they end up, but it still doesn't provide a great mirror for the work Jamar does in his 25 hitout, 5 kicks, 8 handball, 7 marks, 1 goal outing that scores 60.

I'd move on, BB59.

I think Thomo is getting some titillation over this and it's a little off-putting.

Please try to get a meeting of your minds. Jamar was 2nd best ruckman in AFL, but 6th in Supercoach terms. If you were picking a side to play AFL he would be good value. If you are picking a side to perform in the Supercoach fantasy, then his relatively high price is a bit too much for 6th best supercoach ruck.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
