The Scully Situation

Freak

Recommended Posts

Look, The scully saga is going to go on for months. So i thought it would be a good idea to start 1 thread.

The problem is we can't afford to pay Scully 850,000 plus per season.

We can however back-end his contract though right? this means that we pay him less now, but a LOT later. This would be at a time when, if all things go to plan, we should have more members and more money.

Also, our other options are to do what judd and Carlton did. Pay Judd a couple hundred thousand to perform an ambassadorial role at visy. We could do the same with Scully.

And lastly, what compensation would we get for Scully if we lost him?

So ultimately, i dont see why we couldnt keep scully if we back ended his contract as well as offered him a Judd-Visy type job offer.

Thoughts?

He could be the "Ambassador" for Gutnicks Diamond mines. In all seriousness we have some wealthy supporters In high places and If push comes to shove I'm sure we could some sort of 3rd party deal In place.

I don't think we need to stress about this to much.

I had the honour of meeting Eddie MacGuire a few years ago. When I told him I barracked for Melbourne he replied with, "Well you better get out there and rattle the tin".

Cool, so it should be over within a month. ;)

I think we should just let the club and Scully go about it's business without all this MFCSS huff & puff.

Lets give Tom Scully a bit of credit

He looks and acts like a professional

I've got a feeling he will stay because of the incredible upside that the Dee's will have over the next few years.

Make no mistake, money is important but so are a lot of other things in life.

I think it's time to put this thread in lockdown mode and leave only one Tom Scully thread running for the time being.

Sorry, but the saga's already getting tedious, it's only into the first week and the decision won't be made for another 30 weeks.

There's still one thread there for the tragics and masochists.

Please go here if you are that way inclined.

The rest can choose to ignore it.

Thanks people.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
