I would love to see Davey closer to goal this year we are starting to build a good midfield, I would rather see him form the second midfield and spend time as that quick small forward.

Our second midfield is strong, you will run Davey, Green, Trengove, Mckenzie, Bennell and Campbell as the ruckman.

My team, I feel less inclined to push anything now as we're on the road to recovery. Hopefully this road won't pete'r out.

When we're traveling well, I start to step back & watch. I come out when things are a boneyard. But thats me, no good when things are in abundance. I like to fix things that have broken.

I'll have a play soon. I'll have to look through the list & start to imagine what they may have in mind, then scribble my mad thoughts on the PC.

- A pretty strong 22, with 7 guys who should be able to come in to the 22 as depth and fill a role competently.

- Except for Frawley, our spine does look pretty weak. But I guess that's why we draft Watts, Cook, Howe, Davis etc.

- Of those depth players outside the 22, J. MacDonald and Bate were the most unlucky. I expect both to play plenty of senior footy next year. Warnock, Martin and Jetta are pure depth who you wouldn't have in the team except for injuries. I'm still willing to give Spenser and Maric a second chance after hearing rumours they are both having outstanding pre-seasons so far, but they probably won't play much senior footy.

- The thing to really get excited about is the 10 young guns who are not currently in our best 22, but who will all be competing for spots as they develop. Included in those 10 youngsters are 5 first rounders!!!

- Of those young guns, I expect Gysberts, Blease and Howe to play a few senior games next season. Tapscott and Strauss too if they can get their bodies right. The rest will probably be developing in vfl.

To be honest, I think Moloney is a bit over-rated on this board. For us to turn into a good team I think we'll need a bunch of the kids to go past him ... which will hopefully happen within the next two years. I'm probably a bit ambitious hoping for it by round one, but hey, it's the off-season, I can dream!

I reckon whilst Moloney is a booming kick, he is very one dimensional. He usually justs kicks it long in hope rather than setting up plays. I agree for us to be a power side we need some of the younger brigade to step up. As much as Brent may love the club I don't think he's captain material, we don't want to go down the Hawthorn road and have a captain who as a player wasn't quite up to it.

Ha. Great clip. I love the devilled horns on Angus. Can i also recommned a terrific book just released called 'blood, sweat and beers' - a story of Aussie rock in the '70s and '80s. It's a tribute to bands that played at venues like the Village Green hotel and the Box Hill town hall.

I picked Bartram as a cert because i don't see anyone else fitting his role as the back pocket who marks the small forwards (unless they move Grimes there).

Similar story with Rivers. I think he's ahead of Warnock at this point in time for that key defensive position.

Watts gives us a better mix of height and mobility on the forward line than any other player on our list atm.

I had to go for Petterd and i can't wait to see him working with Jurrah. They did a demolition job on Port Adelaide in 2009.

I excluded MacDonald because he may have some competition from Morton for that running half back flank position.

McKenzie is tricky. He deserves to be there on last years form, but we already have 3-4 inside midfielders in Moloney, Jones, Sylvia, and Trengove. The may go for a quicker outside type player in his place.

That locks up 17 of the 22 spots.

Moloney version 2009-10 really changed his game. Especially in 2010, he dropped his eyes quite often and went for the shorter option, and looking to set up run with handball. Often at times I felt he was too focused on the short option when there were times he could have gone longer.

Yeah, I agree with that.

Whenever a poster, usually Mono, came on here in 2009 and said let's 'Raleigh' the coach the point that a few of us made was that improvements were being made, and Moloney's decision making was one of them.

And his clearance work before Sandilands got to him this season was incredibly good.

Best 18 for the foreseeable future.

I have the same 21+1. The only issue is that Dunn would probably have to play as second ruck. Having three mids on the bench also leaves us a bit vulnerable if a KPP goes down.

Why? It doesnt mean he has to sit in the goalsquare and play like most people's idea of a "traditional FF".

Yes they do but lets name our only genuine game breaking forward in his best position, as a roaming forward playing from the pocket or the flank.Not just plonk him in at full forward because he kicks goals. Not to mention he's undersized for the position

It will not restrict him in any way.

I was thinking the same, that Moloney had improved his use of the ball.

He will probably be limited against the new kids when they grow, but for now he has the power & experience.

Rivers before Garland @ CHB,,, because Rivers can't really play on smalls & Garland can.
