You still didn't spell it correctly!

...and if you think I'm a genius you are barking up the wrong tree.

He will most likely play as a defender and a bloody good one at that.

As TV has said, he just doesn't get beaten in the air.

His kicking is adequate, but something the club will work on with him.

I have high hopes for this kid.

GENIUS GENUIS GENUIS!!! happy? :P

dude.....proofread.

Guys!

Hijack threads much?

Ok, jokes aside, this is meant to be about our promising new Brian Lake clone.

Let's return to topic if we can without communicating like the Justin bieber fanclub.

Cheers

(that one's for you rfpc)

Don't be dissing Bieber man, he is apparently the best "artist" in the world according to the American Music Awards (sigh)

So as for that Troy Davis.

I have a very good mate who is o/s at the moment who has been a footy coach in the Mallee and Central Murray for a long time. Waiting for him to get back from O/s so I can grill him. He should be able to give me some good insights on COOK and McDONALD in particular.

Hahaha, funny thread

Never has some many perspicacious genii said so much about so little

Back OT, E25 do you think Troy Davis has the potential to be a KP FB? His video is certainly impressive. We might have a real spine starting to form. Howe-Watts-Scully/Viney-Frawley-Davis ?

I don't mind an argument but some of the posts on this thread reminded me of an old married couple who end up arguing about nothing in particular because they forgot what the original disagreement was in the first place.

They offered nothing at all to the thread in content and while it's ok to have a good humoured jibe now and then, they weren't in that spirit and have been deleted.

Troy Davis looks a really nice prospect, I am really looking forward to watching how he goes.

Cheers

Ugh, there is nothing wrong with saying "Cheers".

What I'm interested to know, having not seen anything other than the highlights, is what deficiencies resulted in him being available so late in the draft? Can anyone help out? Looks like a nice prospect.

Not a fantastic kick. Needs to work on that.

Has some really nice elements to his game without grabbing any of them by the scruff of the neck.

Not necessarily a high possession winner or an exceptional user of the footy.

Really does come across a lot like Brian Lake to me.

Reads the play, cuts the ball off and then sits back waiting for it to come again.

I don't really remember Brian being that great when he was Harris.

Someone else compared him to Rivers at one stage, which I think is fair.

He's a handy player, but definitely not as valuable as others in the side.

Thanks for the info. Always a little averse to judging players solely based on a 3 minute highlight reel. Sounds like he ticks a lot of boxes though and could be a handy prospect. IMO we ideally need one more big backman to assist Frawley and release Garland to third tall defender. Had originally figured Stef Martin for this role but doesn't seem to have panned out that way.

BUMP

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on the likelihood of us potentially re-drafting Davis maybe in the rookie draft?

With Chip likely to leave and our lack of talls at either end, Davis does fit the bill as a replacement for Frawley. Aggresive, qucik tall defender who can't kick!

I've wondered if Davis was told by the club when delisted that if he spent the year with Casey that they'd keep a close eye on him? I've also noticed on two occasions when attending games this year, Davis crossing the road towards the G from Olympic Blvd.

He's been named in Casey's best a few times this year, so his form's been decent. the 2 games he played last year were as a forward, which isn't his best position, and of all the players we delisted last year, I thought he was the most stiff of the lot.

Will be curious to see if everyone still has the same optimistic views that this thread started off with. I still think he could be a handy rookie selection.

II'm thinking....ZIP ???

Mate.. Possibly the worst post on this forum.

With all due respect... he is not even close to being up to it at AFL level. Plenty of other options out there.

school holidays....meh !!!

Been nearly 15 years since I had those!

So no seems to be the line of thinking, which is fair enough.

Just thought I'd float it out there given his decision to play at Casey, still being seen around the club and our need for more talls, especially if Chip does pack his bags.

Davis was let go for a very good reason

He plays at Casey because he obviously likes to play football, Thats the highest level he can play it at and they pay him.

is about as simple as that

Troy was another that I had very high hopes for - alas.....

About as much chance as there is of the club inviting Predergast to do some more recruiting.

Who is he?

sure, but only if we also get Mark Neeld back and sack Roosy

Probably a bit too left field TD, but nothing wrong with outside the box. It's the proposals everyone scoffs at that can sometimes be the best.

He did seem utterly lost at AFL level though.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
