Mostly talked about a conference he's been attending. How sports reach their fan communities and where it is going in the future. Live vs delayed telecast. That sort of thing.

Brief mention of Aussie and how the club is helping him.

They asked who we're wanting to draft, which he deflected basically by saying that BP hasn't told him yet but he'll be happy to act very wise and knowing after the event.

That's pretty much it.

Summary? At work.

Very little of content, said that BP didnt give him a look into what we were drafting, talked about him being at heaps of drafts, discussion about more footy games being Free to air and some very immaterial discussion about the conference up on the goldie at the moment.

You missed nothing.

All he got from BP was a wink and a nod.

- He spoke about how good the conference was up on the Gold Coast, featuring people from the EPL and the NFL.

- All about how sports engage with the fans and supporters.

- We are leading the push into social media (I added this one myself).

You can all partly thank me for pushing twitter so hard to Schwabby & Russian, back when it was only the realm of geeks & I still had to explain to normal people what it was.

- Football should be televised live.

- Consuming the game at home is changing - bigscreen tv, internet and communicating with their mates elsewhere about the game.

- Matthew Wonaeamirri's tragic death.

- Aussie now has more responsibility on his shoulders as his father was a community leader.

- club is doing its best to support him through this.

- Ian Flack flew up north with Aussie as support.

- Cam's 25th draft.

- BP is an old fashioned recruiter that doesn't give much away, occasionally just a nod & a wink.

- Gave away nothing more.

Normal people know what it is.

Some normal people use it.

What exactly are you saying about Schwab & Nathan Jones? That they're not normal?

Personally, I don't like it much, but it didn't take a genius to realise the power it had.

It only needed to be recognised and utilised early on in the piece. Staying ahead of the curve, they call it.

It is all the work of the demon, but at the same time, I was adamant we should have a presence and it was before the advent of either Schwab or Jones' twitter.

If I was really going to give the credit to anyone, it'd be Russell Howcroft.

He'd have been onto it well before I was.

Of course they're not normal people, E25

They're celebrities. I thought you understood that.

...the best bit for me was his admoonishment of Dr Twrf (I think) for calling us punters.....

That was Andrew Maher.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
