2011 Membership Running Tally

Round 4 - Gold Coast (away)

Round 5 - Bye

Round 6 - West Coast (away)

^ Not exactly the best time to be purchasing a membership when many can't get to these games. Many buy them at the Membership tents at home games. This may provide an indication to the tally ticking over slower the last couple of weeks.

theres this little thing called ...the phone....something else called the Internet !!

Peoples inclination to purchase is more relevant than proximity to a sales stall....in this century

next few weeks may indicate otherwise

Of course. Maybe I should have included these (phone, internet) - but I didn't exclusively say at membership tents. :P Not discounting the many who sign up at games. Whatever the case, I'd say more sign up before (the lead up) or at home games.

Clearly as outlined, the last 3 weeks weren't home games.

i understand the idea HT..and its a factor.. but I just have this feeling thered be more knocking on the door ( in whatever fashion ) had we shown a bit more. Many wax and wane...and doenst take much to disenfranchise some. Cant blame some really.

Welcome Rusty.

There's two different photos you can upload - IIRC your photo is what appears on your profile page and your avatar displays under your name on all the posts you make. I can see your photo on your profile, so chances are you uploaded to the wrong one :)

That's my signature. Just go onto your profile, there should be a link called 'Edit Profile' - the option to edit your signature will be in there.

Nah, I believe sponsors look more to exposure on FTA. We are slowly getting more but are not near the levels enjoyed by others...

I would think so too, but not just prime time tv games, but the 'audience power' of the 'game'. And even the age group of the audience.

Looks like that may be the final tally.

Up from the 2010 tally of 33,358. That's an increase of 3,579 members. Well done Mfc. 10.73% increase.

A further 8.3%+ increase next year will ensure 40,000 members.

I'm tipping 38,211 members in 2011.

40.007 in 2012.

1,274 difference.

Don't argue with Roost IT- He has the score on the board...however I think we will get 37960 in 2011

1,023 difference.

Same deal ?

36,878 for 2011 for me.

59 difference.

Yep- he is a better judge than you HT..-By far..and would beat RR by a mile..

Incorrect.

37,000 seems realistic. I'd be happy with that. 40,000 next year would then be very achievable if we perform well in 2011.

63 difference.

I'll take the chocolates and set of steak knives again. Demon Heartland Membership for Roost It. Thanks for playing. :)

Nice. That's a very good result. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but the 40,000 target was always going to be ambitious. It's a realistic goal for next season, especially given we'll be a likely finals contender.

I'd be interested to know how much money each club generates from membership. There are plenty of 3-game memberships floating around, MCC/MFC affiliate memberships (at least in the past), as well as the odd pet membership for those keen to take their gerbil to the footy.

I'm also interested in where membership goes in the future. Collingwood cracked 70,000 members this year. Practically, there comes a point where Victorian clubs will have to either cap membership or continue to be creative with the packages they offer.

Interesting is it not!

Believe it or not my wife is a Pies member ( she has her teeth and no tattoos )

However she is not going to renew in 2012.

Reason - too many members. She says at the majority of games unless you buy an additional reserved seat

you end up in the top of the stand ( they do give free Oxygen bottles )

As well she says if you bag the wrong supporter you are trapped near a foul mouthed idiot that spoils your day.

Claims this year she has only enjoyed 2 -3 games.

Next year it will be TV for her.

Making noises about Foxtel and "why don't you give up on the Dees

They have been useless for years it won't change next year"

Fat chance is my answer but the pressure is mounting.

Glad I came out of the woodwork .67 more people would be nice .

Before you all criticize ,I paid up after a loss and bought my kid a jumper with 31 on the back .

Sweet times ahead .

36,937 is a solid effort considering where we were in 2007.

2012 we will do even better i have no doubt...Let's hope we can keep this list of players together

I believe the number in 2012 will depend on the results we get from the last eight games.

I struggle to see us winning more than 4.

Port - win

Hawks - Loss even with their injuries

Cats - Loss

Carlton - Maybe ? if we respond to earlier in the year but most likely a loss

West coast - loss , Etihad says it all

Richmond - win

Gold coast - win

Port - win.

4 wins and the last three of the year would make for a positive end to 2011.

That should make the members come back for more in 2012

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
