After the departure of Bruce, Junior & Miller, we have lost a lot of games and a lot of years.

Surely we must now hold the title of Youngest AFL List..?

Not much more to this though.

Who held it last year - was it Collingwood?

Posted

Is it that important?

I tell you what is important.

We have become younger for the 4th straight year.

With Junior and Bruce leaving it means we easily cover the 40 years of experience we gather each year.

Hard to expect immense things for a team that is still getting younger, still rebuilding.

As Ralphy points out though, this thread is light on for content.

Just an observation really.

I think it bodes well for the future considering we're rated an outside chance of making finals with such an exceptionally young side.

The only way is up.

The fact that we might have the youngest list is not important per se, but the fact that we have a very young list hopefully indicates that many of the critical 'building blocks' are in place, and we could have a long period of sustained success to look forward to.

Exactly as I was going to say. INCREDIBLY good signs going forward. Amazing really.

Richmond held the title of youngest list in the comp in 2010 but now that they gain Miller and we lose all of Bruce, Junior, Miller and even Bell... I think it is safe to say we have the youngest team by a fair mile! Our eldest is 29 years of age followed by a few 27 year olds!!!

Colin Sylvia's 25th birthday today. Happy Birthday!

That gives us 8 players 25+

Green, Davey, Jamar, Moloney, Warnock, Macdonald, Rivers, Sylvia

With Martin next more than a year younger.

I doubt it.

Not with Fraser O'Bree Davis Presti Lockyer getting a game in the ressie. They have cut alot of wood of their list this year.

I would have thought at a guess that North Melbourne might be one of them.

Edit: Thanks Peanuts. Bugger it had to be the Tigers!!

Oh but posters will though.

As we speak..

Richmond 22.7

Melbourne 22.9

Adelaide 23.3

Carlton 23.4

West Coast 23.8

Hawthorn 23.8

North Melbourne 24.0

Essendon 24.0

Sydney 24.4

WBulldogs 24.5

Brisbane 24.6

Port PA 24.8

Fremantle 24.9

Saints 25.1

Geelong 25.2

Collingwood 25.6

Youngest list = statistics mean nothing

Take away Fletcher from the Essendon list and they would be pushing for the title.

Where are the Gold Coast Suns in the table?......bugger, they probably have the youngest list.

If the table had any meaning, we should be seeking OLD players to recruit....Collingwood won a Premiership with Geelong and the Saints vying for the honour. That's what the stats would tell you.

Football is about talent not age, or I would kicking a ball for the Demons this year.

I've got a six-year old cousin. If he joined the Dees, then we'd be winning. What's the prize anyway?

An excuse for losing.

Posted

Justification, or cause & effect, we call it.

It only applies when we lose, of course.

I believe Collingwood was the youngest team to ever win a flag on the day with an average age of like 24 or 25 or something.

All I see is fresh new branches about to blossom and bear fruit. All the dead wood has been pruned. Some rough cuts here and there but the tree has been neglected for a long time.

You sound like my grandma...

There's always pruning to be done.

If you want me to haul chicken manure, you can forget it!

only the oldest...but close :)

My figures are at 1st April 2011 (season start) and include rookies. But that might not explain the difference. As of today I have 22.5

Fair enough, I took your words "as we speak" as meaning now (or at least prior to next year).

In any case we're young. :)

I just recall a lot of talk in the media about how Collingwood were the youngest something.

Must've been the youngest premier in years or something.

Haha... dearie me, E25.

Use some initiative and look into the facts!!!

Will be interesting to see the team that runs out, round 1 against Sydney.

I think it's exciting. We have a good fixture and getting a few wins early will get the young list up and running.

Really looking forward to that rnd 1 team.

Honestly, does it matter?

I asked the question; it was answered.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
