Neville Jetta: Struggled for a spot in the team as one of many small forwards on Melbourne’s list. Decision-making let him down at times, although he was excellent in the one-point win against Port Adelaide in Darwin - Luke Holmesby melbournefc

I quite like the way Neville goes about it.

Plays on quickly, often hitting a good option on the chest.

Chases & tackles, has a bit of mongrel in him.

Unfortunately his form was up & down in 2010 and injuries at different times made it harder on him.

There are a lot of players now competing for the spots he'd want to play in, so he has his work cut out for him.

2011 will need to be a big year for him if he's to crack the best 21+1.

I don't think it's beyond him, but it's only getting harder.

Nev is a long way off being the classiest player on our list, but he does some things really well. His chasing and tackling are very strong attributes, but I'd like to see him add a couple more strings to his bow (particularly goalkicking). I'd also like to see more consistency throughout a game, and hopefully this will come as he develops a bigger tank. He's an interesting player ...... down the track I'm not sure where he will fit into our best 22 (small forward, midfield, back pocket perhaps?), or even whether he will make it. Definately not writing him off, but for me the jury is still out.

I think you have nailed it. Jury still out for me too, 2011 would need to be alot better.

best thing i like about this guy is he's going into his third season...had a good debut 09 season...2010 wasn't great...he joins the list of melb players expected to have a great 2011...

Would need to develop a big motor to last imo.

Interesting player. I think he's likeable in that he's hard and determined, and he uses the ball well. Hard to see where he fits in though - he's not dangerous enough around goals to be a small forward, he's behind a plethora of people for a midfield rotational role, and he's not quick enough to be the line breaker from defence (and he's behind a bunch for this role as well).

I might be setting the bar a bit low, but I think that if he manages to eek out 50 serviceable games over a few seasons, plugging holes as required, then that's a good result for all concerned. I can't fit him in my premiership side though.

Yeah, good post Nasher.

Pretty much got it spot on.

The problem is that he'll never own a position on the field.

He shouldn't be able to squeeze into the side if everyone is fit, but like you said, he could eek out 50 games and it'd be a good result.

I could see him coming into the side as depth when there are injuries and still being a handy player.

There were players in Collingwood's premiership side that aren't any better than him.
