Played as a tagger up forward and held his own against mid-sized forwards. Was consistent all season and will again poll highly in the club best and fairest. Stood up as a leader in James McDonald’s absence and is a leading candidate to be captain in 2011 - Luke Holmesby melbournefc

Out of contract, expected to be signed soon one would assume hopefully by following the club's lead who have been very good to him over a long time (some 10 years) and gave him his shot at AFL. Consistent, durable performer and decent utility now in the twilight of his footy career.

Certainly one of our best players of the 2000-2009 decade. See how he goes next season. Doesn't necessarily have to be his last although more than likely it will be, but who knows, that's 11 months off yet. He's still able to cover the kilometres as well as ever and finds enough of the ball. Obviously his disposal can be poor but he is definitely in our best 22 at the moment in my opinion. Probably because they are both tall and skinny, Cale Morton reminds me of Bruce. They both find a lot of the ball. Hopefully Morton can become the player that Bruce was in 2005 before his injury.

- one of my favourite MFC memories. I loved that day. And Cam's "That's Gold!" celebration too, what a legend. Edited by Adelaide Demon

I agree. A couple of years ago I didn't think McDonald would make it to 2010 - it's hard to judge when the end will come.

I think I referred to Morton as a potential A-grade Bruce on here before.

Another reliable and consistent year from Cam. He's been a stalwart of the Club over the last decade, but I expect him to be overtaken by the youngsters by the end of 2011. Definately warrants only a one year contract from my perspective, and review at the end of the year to see if another 12 months is justified. I think Cam should be happy with that.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
