Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He's on the move ... Grigg requests a Trade.

I personally think our recruiting staff have identified a skillful half back flanker as a target of ours at the draft (along with a tall forward), and here's a talented 22 yr old who could come in and be a great contributor from round 1 next year.

What would people give up for him?

IMO, He's probably worth a pick between 16-22, considering his age, talent and the fact he was originally drafted at pick 18 (I believe). Pick 12 too much, pick 32 not enough ... what can we give to get him? Do we even want him?

Not sure what the (FD) think but hes not the worst player on the trade table.

He suits our youth policy and shows a bit of hardness.

Apparently richmond have offered him a pretty big contract

Whats with players walking out on brisbane and carlton it seems to be the coaches

maybe pick 32 will get the deal done,if not straight swap for warnock!

This is out of the Blue, & hot on the heels of the Tarrant offers. It makes me wonder If there's a connection???

not sure what your applying Dee-luded??????????Explain

I'm not saying anything. But the question arose in my mind that this guy, who seemed to play some good footy, has all of a sudden, wants out.

What I think it's safe to say, is that 3 or 4 teams are into Chris Tarrant in a big way, & most likely throwing Big money his way.

Their all trying to get a leg up over one another, or in Collinwoods case, trying to stop the likes of Carlton & Hawthorn from bridging the gap on them, StKilda to.

Now we see one of Carltons defenders wanting out. It just feels connected to me. I've seen this boy play some good footy. But I've not watched him closely.

Does anyone have any opinions on him. Is he any good?

I can assure you it has nothing to do with anything other than their FD. Grigg was offered a reasonable contract by Carlton, but refused to be one of the highest paid reserves players.

I can assure you this is 100% correct. Not going to reveal source, but believe me, it's correct.

He is a good player, don't think it's a straight swap for Warnock - think we are on the bad end of that slightly. Carlton have a history of giving us good picks, so if they want MW, and we want SG, I'd be asking for a 3rd rounder to go with it.

I value Warnock over Grigg, no doubt, & I don't see Grigg as a Key posi player, but another 3rd tall type. But maybe he's a better option than McNamara.

But I don't even know how he kicks.

In no way is hie a KPP at all. I think we have the 3rd tall defender role covered with Macdonald and Rivers.

Grigg would be a good half back flank/rotating mid. He racks up massive amounts of possessions in the reserves, he;s hard, can kick fine, breaks tackles.

I like him, I may a little bit biased because of a connection I have, but I have watched him for many years, and think he'd be a good addition. I'm not saying we should pay over the odds, and I wont be upset if we don't get him, but if the price was right, would be a good addition.

No worries about clearing the potential Grigg-Tarrant uproar - happy to sort it out for you!

Grigg has been impressive every time that I have watched the Blues play. I thought that he would be part of the batch of very good midfielders at Carlton but alas he must feel that he is to far down the pecking order...

Warnock would command a bit more on the trade table due to being a KPP.

I am wondering what peoples thoughts are on the value of Matty Warnock Vs Chris Tarrant? Tarrant has asked to leave, so naturally offers come to those who are forcefully on the move. But I would have thought that Matty Warnock would be worth a tad more to a side like Hawthorn/Carlton and so on due to his age and ability tp play as a featured back man. Tarrant is solid, but ultimately he will cost a it more and has less years left in his legs.

As for Grigg, he will find a place and Carlton will get decent compensation. He could be partnered with a Walker or a Jacobs to help land them a first round draft selection.

I think your summation is quite accurate-Warnock ahead of Tarrant.I'd keep Warnock as a back up-without him we haven't got a call if we have an injury except Martin.

Why not both Warnock & Tarrant now it appears more than likely they are going to lose Grigg.

I think Carlton will expect to get 2 or possibly 3 years out of Tarrant. The attraction would be his mobility & class will help to fasttrack them into the top 4. Where as Warnock is as solid as a Rock but not the same class, but offers 4, or 5 years as a regular, so that should really cover their window.

With the clearing of their defenders Now, they really need both, but they have to have a succession plan to follow Tarrant.?

I think they'd try to trade a player or 2, or player & pick, to Freo, who are in a finals window, whereas we are still list building & entering the road to the finals. I think we are younger than Freo, so our window is probably just behind them a little. So, we would want the pick IMO. (17 - 20 range)...

18 - CARL

19 - HAW

20 - FREO?

21 - SYD?

22 - DOGS?

23 - GEELONG?

24 - SAINTS

Good disposal skills will be more important than ever in 2011 and beyond.

Carlton people are critical of Grigg's foot skills and this is what the 2007 AFL Prospectus said about him:-

The only major deficiency evident in his game is his kicking. In 2006 his average of three clanger kicks per game was easily the most of any TAC Cup player or any 2006 draftee.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
