Talk has died alot in regards to trying to pick up Taylor Walker as a reasonable stay at home forward.

With Adelaide losing Bock and having a fb in Rutten who has IMO lost 90% of his talent since AA selection will they not be looking for an adequate tall defender. They clearly have no faith in Phil Davis although he showed talent.

Will Warnock do it? Would a pick have to be used as incentive and would you be interested?

I'm sorry - Cloke was a bad idea??!?

(well, yeah, he was...)

WALKER??!?!??

And "They clearly have no faith in Phil Davis..."

Sure about that?

I'd much rather Davis than the petulant ticking time-bomb that is Tex Walker.

Far prefer Walker to Cloke.

Davis was dropped for 3 weeks straight after winning a Rising Star nomination. If that doesn't show a lack of faith I dont know what does. Im not fussed that Walker is inconsistent it's a target to kick at in the forward 50, something that we haven't had in a long time. Every week we hear about people complaining we dont have a stay at home forward so only floating ideas sir

Warnock is good insurance for us. You can't assume we will have all our defenders on the park.

And there will be some gorillas that need quelling....

Adelaide definitely have long term plans for Davis but he didn't feature in their estimations this year as best 22. They'll groom him over the next couple of years and I doubt they would consider Warnock. Carlton IMO are still a likely option but I reckon if they've learnt anything from last year it is to not go too hard too soon.

That is such a reactionary kneejerk comment. He's a young developing tall defender in his second year.

I very strongly believe we should keep Warnock. He can be another iron fist down in the backline. Can come into the side when we're taking on a St. Kilda with a very big forward line. I really hate the idea of throwing him around for trade. I'd rather keep him than get a tall forward with him to be honest. Defense is always more important.

When I read the title of the thread, I thought it was regarding ANDREW walker, and I felt dirty. Can you imagine ever letting that happen? The shame!

Davis returned a week after being dropped to make way for Bock as they were in a good run of form. He had also won a Rising Star nomination the previous week. He played 15 games for the year after debuting in Rnd 4. The clearly rate him.

I'd take Walker for Warnock though, not sure the Crows would.

The time bomb that is Walker, E is better than the water balloon that is/was Cameron Cloke.

Replace Walker with a first round pick and I'm sold.

I don't think there's much chance of us getting pick 14 for Warna, but if Jacobs goes to Adelaide, from Carlton for Pick 14,,, then there may be a chance we could get Pick 18 from Carlton.

Especially if Collingwoods Deal for Tarrant gets up.

This is what im thinking also.

If the Blues end up with pick 14 then they will be much more likely to part with pick 18.

If we could get pick 18 for Warnock and our third round pick would be awesome.

I'm not keen on getting Walker to MFC. Talented no doubt, but perhaps doesn't have his head on straight, not entirely commited to the football lifestyle.

I'm in Adelaide here so maybe we hear of it more than other people but talk of him not entirely being commited to the training and discipline required. Also, he's been dropped a couple of times for lack of defensive pressure and also maybe not doing the disciplined thing with the ball in hand.

I'm very happy with the headspace of our group of players at the moment, a risk I don't think we need to take.

Also, any talk that Adelaide doesn't appreciate or rate Phil Davis is rubbish IMO. Was very surprised he was dropped that one week though, maybe a last ditch attempt to keep Bock

I heard a rumour today the Gold Coast are very keen to fill a gap at Full-Back with an experienced Full Back. Rumours are they spoke with McGuane from Richmond, but decided against, maybe they are now interested in Thursfield! Talk is they may be prepared to move on a top 20 pick if the player or pick mix was correct.

Wonder if we had anybody that might fit the bill?

surely warnock has already spoken to gold coast.

if i was warnock you'd want to stay at melb...our backline may seem settled but gold coast hasn't even taken shape....he'd be walking into a lot of unknown. another few years of getting bags of goals kicked on you again...

I'm also surprised at all the Warnock trade talk,is Bails still Pi$$ed at him for his QB stuff up?

It's only going to take 1 or 2 injuries to Frawley,Riv or Garland and we'd be kicking ourselves for trading Warnock and considering we're the most injured team of the last 4 seasons,we need depth in all 3 zones.

If Warnock is to go i would love for us to try get Shaun Hampson from Carlton.

Over 200cm, 22 years old, shows real promise, has great marking hands, could be great for what we are seeking.

Warnock for Hampson is my wish anyway..

Exactly, Every good team has some back up to cover injuries. Good young backmen are not so easy to find. With Warnock at least we know exactly what he is capable of thus far.

Would love that trade too, but now that Jacobs has walked out on Carlscum it's even less likely

Yep agreed that would be the problem.

yep.

I don't want to moz anything, but we do have a bad record with injuries, Rivers for example. I can see a situation where we are kicking ourselves later on if we lose Warnock. Not saying it's the same, but it has a sense of the Dawson/Hawthorn situation about it- as in we may be a defender down when we had a fairly capaable one all along.

Its not always up to us though sadly, if Warnock wants to move on, he wants to move on. If he has the same DNA as his brother we'll probably see him down at GC. I hope he stays. He does get beaten body on body a little too much for my liking though, must be said

Keep Warnock. Can't believe you people would think anything else.

Open your eyes. Who comes in if there is an injury? Martin?

This bloke is still very much a required player. And he may well be back in the best 22 next year.

Have a look at Collingwood and Geelong. You need list depth to be a premiership team. That's why it is imperative that he stays.

Wish people would actually look at the big picture instead of looking for someone to trade.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
