"hmmm ablett going , thompson going ... might follow the dees or the gold coast garys.."

jump on bored who ever you are ;)

On board, even.

They won't be bored following us.

lol ... How catty hehe !!!!

This sucks...GC 9.5m over 5, Geelong 4 over 5

The guy had no choice, it's just kinda crazy that GC and next year WS are given such advantages.

Lock up Scully now.

Its all becoming real now, GC will be pretty decent once they get games into their young talented list.

Starting to get a bit worried about our premiership window.

His dad the one who couldn't be stuffed getting out of bed and let Stokes go into the cop shop and spill his guts, dobbing in all & sundry?

Top legal representation right there.

I'd always trust a lawyer that goes around blabbing about the inner workings of it's client organizations.

I'm just passing on what i heard E.

You dont always have to be a f**khead. The way this forum works is people hear things and people discuss it. You're trying to be a hero on the server and we get it but let people talk without shutting down everything

[censored] em look at the players they have picked up so far.. out of all abblet is the only decent one. yes they have good young list in swallow and all but trust me we are goin to be one hell of a force in years 2 come and even goin to be better once we get jack viney on board

What? You don't like it when you say something stupid and get pulled up on it?

Haha you can dish it out...

Anyway, my comment was more about how reliable your source was.

Suck it up buttercup. School holidays will be over for you soon.

Sad day for football. Pity that the the actual AFL are running this show in it's entirety. Does anyone believe we would have not heard about this last week had the GF not been drawn.

A kid who's father was probably the best the game has seen, grew up following this club, plays for them as his father did, achieves premiership success, individual success, then walks away when bigger money is flashed at him.

Every other reason he might give is just dressing, as we all know, it's the money. Obviously it is a lot of money and hard to knock back but how much is enough doing the thing you love?

I don't know because I will never be in a position to make that decision. Maybe as a player your love for the club can be diluted by inside issues etc? Who knows, but if I ever got to live my dreams of playing for the Dees, I would never walk away.

Bit tough on gazza I think,

He actually acknowledged money was a big part of the decision and fair enough too...if reports are true he'll be earning 1 million more per year.

These guys have finite careers and that's an offer I think every single player in the league would have to accept

It is however very sad, and a bad omen. Not because of players jumping to the highest bidder, but because the exact same thing is going to happen next year...lock up scully

Good on Gaz.

I admire him for saying the money was an influence; he'd have been stupid not to.

He'll be fine, the cats will come back to the pack, GC17 will be a force in about 5 years.

Unfortunately the time you crave died at least 20 years ago.

The game is now professional it actually surprises me how much loyality still exists.

Would I change jobs for twice the salary and a 5 year contract?

IN A HEART BEAT.

What more can he do at Geelong

A Brownlow and 2 flags in three years.

Good luck Gary.

sad but true

i wonder though how much is enough - there must be other desires than $$$s ?

Still, tis his decision - i'm just grateful i'm not a cat's supporter - i'd be devastated

As Ablett says.."its only a game " its his job...who can blame him. Leaving a team on the decline for a team that can only go up...for squillions...honestly ...tis a no brainer

GC wont be a threat for years as most of their list are boys. They win games even upsets, but you look how long it takes for a large young group to become consistent winners.

It will be interesting what the compensation for the cats will be?

I read two first round draft picks on the AFL website.

They wont be a real force for a while but keep an eye on Maverick Weller ... played against him in Tassie .. ripper player and good bloke

All of a sudden GC look like a dangerous outfit. That is how good Gary Jnr is!

Cats Dynasty is over. Feel bad for them because they still had another 3-4 years left of finals footy in them. With Gary and Thommo possibly going, the cats will struggle to make the 8.

still a lot of blanks on their list.

It will take years for GC17 to win a game in September at the MCG. Ablett won't go even close to winning a flag. CHING CHING

Emphatically over. Ablett made the right choice, it's a winner in every possible way.

Is Geelong's dynasty over? YES.

They can cry themselves to sleep knowing they have 2 premierships, 4 dominant years, and have been the most successful team of the past decade (source= Cam Schwab, Whiteboard wednesday week 27).

If we won made finals 2011, top 4 2012, premierships 2013&2014, I'd be happy to come bottom 4 every year for the following 8 years.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
