Grand Final Sprint - J Watts

Featured Replies

Every success adds a bit of confidence. The FD believes in him. Many supporters are beginning to believe. He just needs to grow in his own self belief. Every goal counts, every pass counts, every mark counts, every smart play counts. A good sprint in front of the billion????? counts. Every win in front of your opponent counts. I am going for the win.

Putting too much thought into it. Counts for jack all. It's just a hit and giggle.

The only thing that interests me is that young jack has obviously no injury problems/surgery so he should be ready to go preseason day one. Big preseason. Smash it.

Win, lose or draw, the Bay is going to have an absolute field day with this.

you should think alot more in general.

Go Jack Watts Go!

Thanks for your advice-Enforcer & HT tell me reguarly.

Alright then. Potentially 'over' a billion. :)

That too. He has missed the trip to Bali.

if he missed his Bali trip, thats not a bad thing, last years trip was a setback

Is it wrong to be more excited about this than the Grand Final itself? Don't get me wrong, I'm pumped for the game, but I'm even more pumped to see Jack Watts' blistering pace. Don't forget, he was able to keep up with Lewis Jetta at the end of the Sydney game, so he's no slouch.

Does anyone know when the race will be run?

Did he qualify?

Did he qualify?

I dont know to be honest. first four went through and he seemed to just pull up on the line. I think he qualified though.

Did he qualify?

Came fourth out of nine, but looked to me to be at about 60% the whole way through. I don't know how the handicap thing works in the real one at half-time, but I think that if thee is one, Jackie boy will have a fair head start.

He seemed to just jog the heat.

Yeah. He seemed to go hard for the first 20 meters and then took the foot off the pedal. I was watching it with the sound down and the radio on so I just figured it was a warm up the way he cantered.

Does anyone know if he made the final sprint for half time? Had $10 on him with a mate.

Yes, he is in. Not sure if he wanted to be or was just going for the best handicap

How do you know he is in. Commentator said maybe Douglas just before him. Was 5th quickest in his heat or the other?

pretty impressed with the singing of the club songs - a bit different but stirring

I'd have to give it (narrowly) to the St.Kilda bird - she was terrific

A good omen for the Aints ?

NO WATTS IN THE GRAND FINAL SPRINT?!!!!

WTF!!!!!

Worst day ever.

Was looking forward to him being in it.....

Meh. Winning that is like dancing with your sister.

Yeeeah. I wasn't really serious.

At the time I thought Pies would win it easy, so I was mostly disappointed about that.

or your red-headed step-sister if you're a filth supporter

Obviously wrong, thought he had Douglas on the line.

He didn't.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
