David Mundy

Big rumour going around the G last night that Mundy was coming home and that the Bombers were into him big time in revenge for the Dockers poaching McPhee.

hahaha 'revenge' for taking Mcphee? Is everyone who is coming back home talking to Essendon? Sounds like it.. will be interesting to see who they can actually get seeing as they must surely now be considered one of the weaker clubs..

A senior coach would be handy before they make too many decisions on their list. Ha! Ha!

Mundy has been very impressive in the Freo games I have watched this year. He will be in high demand so will cost big dollars and I am not sure we will have room in the salary cap next year with all our front-ended contracts in place.

They were speaking about him on triple m last night. He is on around 500-550k a year at Freo, so won't come cheap. That would make him our highest paid player for sure.

Pass.

We need to develop our young guys.

Need a young big forward (eg. Jesse White, Taylor Walker) or young ruckman (eg. Jacobs) that wont cost the world!

Sadly toooo expensive in salary & picks needed I would expect. Had a great season.

Pass for me

I would be amazed if we didn't have some room in the cap for him, and a little dissapointed. He can play, i say chase him, aggresively if necessary.

Great player but would only hinder the development of our guys who will surely pass him in one or two years.

If the young players pass him (a great player) in one or two years time then how does it hinder their development???

I doubt MFC will be hot in the market for him particularly given the alleged price on his head (It seems a little high for his current contract. I could believe his manager would be pedalling the $500k+ plus to boost his commission cheques on the future contract).

Indeed.

said in the herald sun that his contract is back ended and that his last last year was around 500-550.

Thanks Bingo. That sounds more realistic.

That makes more sense re his current salary. I still would not take him- need talls.

I would'nt be surprised if we make a big play for him. Bomber's too make bigger play though I would think.

The Dee's are no longer the laughing stock where players dont want to go. Well that remains to be seen at the moment.

Mundy should see more upside to Melbourne than Essendon. It will come down to $$$$$$!

Yes this year onwards The MFC can really put itself out there with Pride & Strength. Those new Training Facilities will help no end to our Image as a serious Club. Right in the Heart of Melbourne too.

Thank God the Junction Oval is now a memory...David Mundy would be a good get, once again at a good (realistic price) We should never pay too much for any player, particularly when they will want to come to play with us.

We are the name of this City-No other club has that. B)

I was just reading an article on (sportsnews first) and it says Melbourne are keen on luring the silky midfielder home.

Clearly this will come at a pretty big price. This shows we may be a player in trade week (interested to hear some thoughts).

D Day Looms for Mundy

Essendon is heading a list of high-profile clubs courting the smooth moving midfielder. Rising power clubs Melbourne and Richmond are also heavily into attempts to lure Mundy back home.

Just said in WA news that Mundy is keen to get back home with Essendon throwing bags of cash his way... but it is WA news.

Despite what it will take to get him here I can not see a down side to mundy, a very skillfull ball winner that kicks goals regularly. Therefore takes pressure of both our young small bodied midfield and forward line. I dont see how we can loose.

When does trade week begin?

About 4 days after it starts...

Your best work always comes out at this time of year...

did I just hear someone say "don't encourage him!"..?

This bloke's a gun.

I say we go after him all guns blazing. Would be a sensational addition.

Freo are going to want a player and probably a draft pick for him. I've got no problem with that.

Money isn't an issue for us right now.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
