Where is Sam at? The comment below from Casey seems strange to me!

"Sam Blease: I thought Sammy struggled. He had one decent patch in the third quarter. It was difficult for him on the small ground - he’s much better on the bigger grounds and he’ll be better at AFL level. He had eight touches on the boggy ground. With his limited preparation, it was unfortunate he couldn’t have a bigger impact."

Could we be seeing a potential Champion limited by a very bad injury before he ever played at AFL level?

He had a very bad break and has obviously taken a long time to recover if he has at present.

This is what I read into it Enforcer, As I've said in previous Blease threads. I believe this kid will struggle to make the grade at AFL level solely because he broke his leg and his game is built on speed, run and breaking lines. Seasoned AFL players rarely come back from seriously broken legs let alone skinny kids yet to play senior footy. I hate to say and I mean this I really hate it but I think we have lost out on a No.18 pick. Shoot me down at will, I hope I'm wrong.

BTW I know he's young and has time on his side.

He can really only be judged properly at the conclusion of 2011. Is injury was a two year injury so will hopefully have a big preseason and make an impact next year.

Steamin, I see where you are coming from but I don't think he needs to be written off just yet despite the severe injury. I saw him a few times at Casey 1's and 2's and his pace, especially taking the ball in a stoppage and leaving others in his wake is still there.

I last saw this at the Cold Goast game and it was scintillating to watch. If he brings that to the Demons, I have said he will win the Rising Star in 2011.

You and I seem to be a different poles in relation to where we see Blease, if he can meet us both halfway in 2011 I reckon we will be pretty happy and the future will be bright for him...and us!

I saw Blease play for Casey Seconds against Frankston and he's lost none of his pace. He was never an accumulator at junior level, so he needs to learn how to find more of the ball, which is a skill in itself, but he has the right ingredients to become a quality AFL player.

A decent run at a preseason won't do him any harm.

"Broken leg" is such an annoying term because there are so many varying degrees of breaks.

In Sam's case, (as we have been told) it wasn't a terrible break and as somebody previously mentioned it

doesn't look like he is any slower.

Two years ago a team mate had a similar break to Blease's. He was a little bit tentative and proppy when he

first came back but he has since played his best footy for our club and was also playing with Collingwood ressies

for a while. He played and has been playing his best footy post break.

So steamin' for every bad luck story you hear, there is a good one waiting to be told.

No point in wasting your 'belief' on something negative.

he's only played a handfull of games in his comeback, he took strait to VFL 2nds & dominated, but without a big preseason & some miles in his legs would naturally find it hader @ VFL seniors & AFL level.

He looks OK & he'll be right.

You might as well point out that Max Gawn will have to "improve dramatically to make it", too.

He is a slight, physically undeveloped kid, coming back from a monstrous injury setback. His form in the VFL has apparently been solid without being outstanding, with the occasional good game, like the one against the Gold Coast. To expect his output to even remotely measure up to what is required at AFL level is patently absurd, and so to point out that his performances have been a long way from AFL standard is absolutely pointless.

It's not the words that the difference. it's the generations thats the difference.

You younger generations use the language & definitions, differently than the older generations did & do.

What JCB31 is saying is Bleasy will have to do everything right to get his body right & to get games into his career quickly as he's missed 2 years of footy.

No doubt he doesn't want people to pump up Bleasy, as this sometimes can get into young players psyche & interfere with their attitude further setting back ego oriented types.

JCB31 should know as he's coached & is close to the footy world, even if he communicates in his own way.
