I'm not sure what you're referring to. Is there some public news? However, I do know if Jones is gone there are absolutely reasons for it.

It's fair to say the Jonesy doesn't appear to love his role as a stopper as he is no longer in the thick of the action and has to take somewhat of a demotion in favour of first and second year players (Trengove, Scully, Mckenzie, Gysberts).

Jones does bust a gut for the team, but is not a dream to coach. If you heard interviews with our previous midfield coach Paul Williams in reference to Jones, Williams was always saying that Jones needed to stop trying to do too much and follow his instructions. It might be a case where Jones thinks he is better than the football department do, and that they have never quite seen eye to eye. That might be reflected in this year's B and F.

If Jones stays, which I certainly hope he does, he must accept that playing as a tagger in this up and coming midfield is a privelege and commit himself to become the best run-with player in the comp. His foot skills are very good for a tagger (Remember Simon Godfrey?), and he has the engine, though not the speed, to run with the best in the comp.

If true that Jonesy wants some answers, great, because hopefully he comes away 100% clear about his role in the team and can focus on that for the up-coming pre-season and beyond.

It must be said that based on the potential of the kids on our list he will struggle to win a spot in any role come 2013, however, until that potential has been realised, it would be crazy to trade Jones.

That said, the club will only get rid of Jones if he isn't happy with the role they want him to play, or unless of course they plan to trade him for someone like S Salopek...which would be seen as a minor improvement to our list and no loss of experience.

There is a reason for everything and you have to have faith in the football department whose job it is to decide these matters. Nate Jones is our Blue Collar Worker. He aint pretty a lot of the time, but he is tough.

When he leaves the Ground either as a rotation or injured player that is often when you realize how much hard work he does.

If Nate goes who will we have to do his job??

I want him to stay-unless HE wants to go.

I want him to stay because he is a passionate Demon with guts! But we do have similiar players in Moloney and McKenzie.

Jones, Moloney and McKenzie are very slow defensivly. Not good chasers! And all 3 ar'nt very versatile.

Is there room for all 3? No. Not in our best 22 anyway.

Opposition midfielders have field days running off these blokes. That is damaging to any team.

But if Jones is offered a better contract and opportunity at the Suns or elsewhere. It might be in his best interest to go...

Not making the top ten of the B&F was probably disappointing but maybe it is shaped a little by expectation, who knows.

Can't see a strong argument for offloading him. I'd be really worried if this was some kind of falling out or disfavour.

But at the moment, it is all a storm in a teacup in a cupboard labelled 'rumour'.

Jones, like Brock, suffers from an inability to be effective anywhere other than the midfield.

He's an average tagger too. He'll get better with time, but he won't get faster.

Jones is suffering from the Brock syndrome. smart enough to see the big picture. doesnt want to be the next Miller.

I am still dirty on the club for getting rid of the engine room of our midfield Simon Godfrey.

Good article. No-one doubts Jones' courage - he'll run thru brick walls for the club. but that's part of the problem. Breaking tackles is difficult even if you are built like Matthew Pavlich; it's very tough if you're only 181 cms.

Fringe players like Jones evoke little to no emotion in me. I couldn't give a toss if he's here next year, or not. I'll back the footy departments decision.
