Can't see why it wouldn't be used everywhere the emblem is used, maybe remove the writing underneath at times, on clothing etc?

It's probably too detailed/complex to be printed on our jumpers etc?

I could perhaps see it appearing just above our Hankook sponsor logo or something...

CamSchwab The key to the emblem is the story behind it, which will be told in full when we formally launch it.

I couldn't agree more. I was very privleged to have Cam talk me through the story-line a while back, and it is simply brilliant. If you love the look of the emblem, I promise you will be 'over the moon' when you understand the story that underpins it.

I think it will be used. Today I got another MFC/MCC flyer and it has a picture of the 2011 members scarf with the new logo pixelated once again.

I was hoping for something more hip and modern, similar to the logos Adelaide and Brisbane started using this year.

adelaides and brisbanes are HORRIBLE, plus schwab mentioned that they were going to do a heritage type one

Yep. Our new emblem/logo will leave others' for dead. It truly is a cut above the rest...

Yes. Apparently you can get sued for having a tattoo of the Olympic rings if you are not a former olympic athlete

Actually, the Olympic rings, flame and associated logos are protected by specific legislation (Olympic Insignia Protection Act 1987) prohibiting their use outside of the Olympic movement. This is beyond the normal Copyright Act or the Trademark Act that covers the MFC emblem.

(Another protected emblem is the Red Cross, which is limited by the Geneva Conventions to which Australia is a signatory. You can't use a Red Cross logo without permission from the Australian Government, and it's actually a criminal offence to do so. If BigFooty continues to use the Red Cross emblem as a symbol for threads on injured players, they'll find themselves in trouble.)

I am over the moon with the emblem.

It is amazing.

My only gripe is that I was expecting something to reference our past premierships, and ways we can change it to include future cups.

I don't see any evidence of that, but I would think it'd be fairly easy to incorporate.

Mate... the sheer fact that we have this new and innovative emblem unlike any other AFL club implicitly states that we are moving in the right direction to that "lucky" 13th premiership.

Depending on when it IS released, I'm not sure this [censored]-up is going to hurt anyone. in fact, it'll only get it noticed more.

So more importantly did anyone ever find the Gold Coast logo? Or have they managed to keep it a secret unlike us?

Our logo looks good, but unless the papers pick up on it there's no more than a few percent of our supporter base which will have seen it, and you can't tell me the club isn't taking notice of the comments as an off the cuff focus group. Much ado about nothing.

been cancelled on bigfooty and the source... dunno about bigfooty mainboard. Good option by MFC, i assume they would have a quiet word with herald sun and i doubt our sponsors (the age) would do it without our permission

I know it's only BigFooty, and we should expect this reaction anyway, but I've not seen a negative word from opposition supporters.

They are all giving it exceptional feedback.

Edit: and even though they seem to have removed the original post with the emblem, they've left a reply post on the thread, quoting the original post featuring the emblem.

Mods are so useless...

(jokes!)

hahah i noticed that, it is in the gold coast suns thread as well... its alright they are pretty well hidden and unless you look specifically for them you wont find them, and by tomorrow im sure the threads will be deleted, will be more logical anyway

obviously not on purpose but I think that it would give great confidece to the club when they do release it on a much larger scale of the reactions they will get. Looking forward to the story to go with it as a lot of opposition supporters have noted as well after seeing the logo.

The only negative responses I have heard have been that it's too "busy."

This is true. Hence why it may be hard for it to be our new "logo" design. Team logo's are much much MUCH simpler in design.

I think the emblem is quite interesting and look forward to reading the back story as to how and why it evolved to that. A jumper utilising the upper area with red yoke and mfc motif on white ( sort of ala sth -mlb ) might look interesting as a clash effort. Might reinforce the branding as well as appwase teh AFL..and on that note Im still mystified as to why its the AFL that appears on teh trademark info and not the MFC. Anyone care to comment ?

Didn't another poster submit this same idea on the recent clash jumper strip 2011 thread. I am sure I saw this idea posted somewhere.

going back some years...and Im sure Clint wil concur , various of us have cobbled together desgns including at times the motif. many of us especially like a red jumper with blue MFC. Its simple , bold and very Melbourne , alas its a red one and not in favour with the powers that be. At times we have put up here a jumper essentially white with blue motif but to date nothing inquite the manner as to incoporate teh motif as displayed in the new emblem.

Time permitting i'll cobble something up later. it wil show the idea without I trust compromising the proprietary of the new emblem itself.

Yeh, pretty sure Redleg_24 posted a number of these of ideas on a post about 2 weeks ago. Just been back to look at that and it definately seems to be what you are talking about, but agree, it is the older motif. I have read your comments there though and you seem critical of those designs? Or is it just the white factor? I hate to say it, but white will be the only option given by the AFL.

So are any of the jumpers on the recent thread (sorry don't have time to look for the threads you and Clint posted over the years) the type of thing you are talking about.?

I like the idea, especially now that our logo reflects those designs even more

Just as a side note..i copied Redleg's jumpers and used the new red from our new logo (yes i saved a copy). This is what it would look like using the red the logo uses. Very Dark.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
