As Brad Green heads towards his final years at MFC, I get the feeling he will be remembered as out best ever left footer. The last couple of years he has been consistent week in week out. His critics have said in the past the he is a little bit soft and doesn't lead from the front. He has taken those criticisms on board and has become an all round player who is considered a possible future captain. He has always kicked the important goals for the team, and his contested marking has improved out of sight. Unlike Adem Yze, Green does not go missing in the big games and his kicking is always good. I get the feeling Green will finish his last couple of years as a permanent forward, and kick plenty of goals for us. But at the moment he is so dangerous as a wingman who can go forward. If he hangs around for a Premiership, surely he will end up as being regarded as one of the greats of MFC.

Actually, when I started this thread I wanted to compare Green with past south paws of MFC. But my knowledge in this area is very limited. Only ones I can remember (from recent players) of Green's ilk are Woewodin, Tingay (I think he was a south paw) and Yze.

At least he should be very seriously considered for our next captain- maybe as early as next year with Jack Grimes, Brent Maloney, Jared Rivers, Aaron Davey in the leadership group.

No doubt Green is an impressive kick and IMO seems to be getting better which is great for us

Fantastic match today, has been consistently in our best during the dark 3 years past, and now he can settle up forward and probably become an even better player.

He is the best left foot shot on goal we`ve had, but Flash has a better kick around the ground (apart from some of his odd chip kicks)

Yeah, I put Flash's left foot a smidge ahead of Green's. Special mention to the Ooze. Probably a notch or two below both these guys, but in his day (which didn't last all that long) he was, at times, a stunning left boot.

He just charges in and hurls himself at it. There is no regard for his own safety there, which is probably why he gets away with it. Every other player in the contest is paying attention to the other bodies.

Yes, Stuart Spencer(1950's) had a magnificent left foot kick. Long, raking and accurate. He knew where the goals were too. Brad and Aaron are up there too.

Steady on! How bout Brad Green - Demons Champion, courageous, uncomprimising, tough & skilled. Seems fitting, and he's not done yet by a long shot. A permanent home up forward could add years to his career.

When I first signed up to this place there were posts saying he was prone to squibbing a contest. I knew it was incorrect but on another level I wondered if I was wrong - after all if so many passionate fans thought that then maybe I was missing something. Anyway I went away and looked harder at his game only to have what I always knew confirmed: he was the hardest at the ball in the club.

It's pretty sad how we treat our guns sometimes. One or two posters decide that some perceived flaw makes them a spud and the rest jump on board until that player is scrutinised to the point that 30 good things are outweighed by one bad thing so the nay sayers can say "I told you so".

Anyway, good work Brad and I hope to see many more years of Green magic.

Green is just a class act... on and off the field. Hard at the contest with poise and skill. Has plenty of footy smarts and helps bring his team mates into the game. Classic example today with him just leaning into his opponent (protecting the space and not giving away a free kick) and allowing the ball to hit the deck for Jurrah to run onto the ball and kick a goal.

Stinger wasn't a lefty just brilliant on both sides.

Brad Green is a star of the game and would be held even higher if plying his trade at a club like Collingwood. He can play anywhere on the ground, 4 years ago he transformed himself from a good outside runner into a player of great courage that continually puts his body on the line.

Currently sitting equal with Buddy and ahead of Roughead on the Coleman Medal tally....just highlights how well he is going.

Big Bob Johnson was also a leftfooter! Also kicked few goals fior MFC. Must be other champs from previous era too. Brad is one our best converters especially from set shots regardless of left or right foot.

Is Green in All-Australian form?

He's played all 15 games this year and averages 21 disposals (14 kicks, 7 handballs) a game. He's kicked 36.19 and averaged over 7 marks and almost 3 tackles a game. If he keeps up his goals per game ratio he'll end up with 57 for the year.

Just want to confirm what has already been noted. Stuie Spencer another Taswegian (I think) was truly a beautiful left foot kick in the days they kicked the drop kick and torpedo. As equally fluid in style.

Green may well not be around long enough to see a premiership, so I can think of no player more deserving of recognition in the form of All-Australian selection. The only reason he's continually referred to as "underrated" in media circles is cause he plays for us...God bless him..
