I think they had the go home factor.

With ricky out for the year you would think his contract would become priority (after rehab) I mean it's not like he can use the excuse of " i just want to focus on my footy, we will discuss my contract at the end of the year" I cannot see the reason for him not trying to get signed up other then he wants more cash/years or he wants a GC mega bucks deal.

Granted - but debate, don't dismiss with ridicule and sarcasm.

Ridicule and sarcasm?

"Was it?" -- was the reason we took Watts because Naitanui would go home? Where has this been admitted by the club?

Speculation.

"Did they?" -- Was "coming home" the only motivation for Judd and Thompson?

And I think it's also fair to say ST reportedly still has a wandering eye.

You're dealing in absolutes where there are none.

I fail to see any ridicule or sarcasm, merely questioning of your reasoning.

You fail to reply to any of the responses I make enforcer.

I have never said that I was worried about the go home factor.

Listen carefully to the next part:

I merely stated that melbourne supporters have every right to be more concerned about someone like Petterd leaving than

someone like Jamar .

The reasons and factors are plain for every logical thinker to see.

Yet yourself and Rhino still seem to be confused and make the most ridiculous comparisons.

It's really not that hard...

Your questioning relates to some cryptic prior knowledge that inevitably creates an air of uncertainty. You knew the full intention of your reply - explain yourself to generate debate and discussion.

i thought gc would be chasing a developed ruckman more then a run of the mill mid sized forward. i think that would cause more worry then the go home factor. they'd offer bigger cash to a developed ruckman.

Really? Tell me why Petterd is more likely to leave than Jamar.

I think Jamar would command more money than Petterd and that is GC17's main selling point.

Cryptic prior knowledge?

The reply, in the context of your post made perfect sense.

You argument makes clear assumptions that aren't substantiated.

They may be correct, but as it stands that cannot be relied upon as fact.

If either of them are uncontracted, then they go.

I thought we were talking about the players here? Not the club.

It's a different story when you are talking about what the clubs want.

So to answer your question:

* Petterd is from the Gold Coast.

* Family and friends live there

* Has been documented that he would love to play in front of family and friends at the place of his birth.

I don't have to explain that to you Enforcer. You know that. You also know that Jamar has no association with the GC

so therefore, people won't worry about the way he is feeling as much as they would with Petterd.

It's not a misused or overused fact Rhino.

I don't think that he is going to leave because of these factors.

I am simply saying people are right to worry about him more than other players on our list because

of these factors !!!

Given you think it does not apply here you still gave the point an unnecessary flogging. Another case of overuse.

Proved my point. Well done. B)

Whilst it is not completely accurate to say that Petterd is likely to go home because of his home state, there are other factors that have people worried.

The fact that he has put contract talks on hold until the end of the year

Wait, what?? When did this happen???

No. That is my belief. All I said was that melbourne supporters have every right to be worried because of those factors.

There is no overuse. You make silly comparisons and think for some reason that Petterd's situation is the same as any other

player's.

I gave the point a necessary flogging so pea-brains like yourself and Enforcer could see that Petterd's situation is quite

a lot different to most other player's and in particular, the comparison you hilariously joked about.

It seems you still don't understand....

Not to worry.

Sorry Wonna.

Where he grew up....

The place he calls home?

What, he commutes from the GC to Melbourne every week does he?

Melbourne is his home right now.

I'll give you that his situation is 'different' to most other players. But that doesn't mean he's more or less likely to go. Or even be on their hit-list.

Where did I say that?

I dont have any information to suggest the Petterd's situation is/isnt different to any other player.

But I dont know why you [censored] a dead horse point about the go home factor when 1) you dont know and can only speculate (and that aint hard) 2) you dont believe it to he the case.

Thanks for the community service, but I can see through the facts even when you cant. Its a pity you just keep digging a bigger hole for yourself.

Beat me to it.

The family repatriation card is one of the most overused or misused "facts" on this site.

Daniel Rich must be on the first bus back to Perth at the end of this year.

There is your comparison. The funny one. Remember now?

Where did I say that?

Read above.

The dead horse is this argument Rhino, and you are the one flogging it as you are still struggling to interpret and make sense of what I have said.

To really make thing's crystal clear for you I will explain again so we don't have to continue this pathetic squabble.

I made the point that it makes perfect sense for melbourne supporters to be more concerned about Petterd leaving then anyone else on our list.

I am not factoring in anything other than what Petterd wants. Nothing to do with whether or not the GC would prefer another player like Jamar or something.

So, Petterd, who is from the Gold Coast, spent most of his childhood there (I am guessing), who's friends and family reside there and where he began playing football would naturally be thinking about both options. Added to this is the fact that he hasn't yet signed a contract extension with MFC. Thus, strengthening the belief that he is weighing up both options. This 'speculation', as you have described it Rhino can be nullified as Petterd has already stated that it would be fantastic to play with mates at home and have family and friends watching, (or something to that nature). On the contrary, we have also heard comments about him loving the MFC, having a close relationship with a couple of the players and stating something like 'having unfinished business with MFC" via twitter. With this information Rhino, it is fair and accurate to say that Petterd would be thinking about the two options. Do we have an agreement on this?

So the 'speculation' Rhino. The 'speculation' would actually be about his decision and whether or not he is leaning toward one side. I have never suggested that he is more inclined to go or to stay.

I have simply and plainly said as follows:

"Melbourne supporters have the right to feel more concerned about the Petterd situation than any other on our list."

As for your comparisons again. The Rich one. If you cannot see the obvious differences in scenario between Petterd and Rich, you need to seek medical attention. However, if it was an attempt at sarcasm, you should be doing stand up comedy and not spending 9,000 odd posts worth of time trying to argue with people on forums.

I bid you good day.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
