Casey Scorpions vs. Box Hill Hawks

Featured Replies

Conditions today were appalling but Lynden Dunn with eight goals was sensational. Didn't miss and was solid throughout.

Box Hill goaled on the siren to get within 14 points but it was the wettest I've ever seen at Casey. Had to make a quick getaway because the car park was getting inundated and the iPhone battery was threatening to erupt like an Iceland volcano if I would have kept it open.

Thanks for the updates KC. Fantastic news the Scorps had a win, and very pumped for Dunn to get 8.

So Dunn in for Watts next week?

Thats the no brainer of the week. Dont know why Dunn has not been used as a forward that's what he came to the Demons as when drafted.

It is not as thought we have six good forwards forcing him up the ground!

Wouldnt it be Dunn for Miller instead of Watts?

Boy that's cruel. Dees lose partly because we didn't have a wet weather forward...

Dunn doesn't miss and gets 8...

Geez, it's like beating my head against a wall. Dunn should have been playing forward for the last 3 years!

I'm still at a loss why we dropped him.

After yesterdays performance there are 5 spots available.

The only one of our forwards who earnt his place was Green.

Dunn should get any of the other five spots he wants.

I'm still at a loss why we dropped him.

i thought it was because he was at that awkward in between height of 192cm?

He was dropped due to poor form! People must forget how bad he was playing.

He was rightly dropped, but he was getting to the right spots but panicking and not finishing off good work. 8 goals indicates that he's found some confidence, lets just hope he can bring it to the big league.

Dunn needs to play as a forward for the remainder of the year. Inside the 50! Full forward or in the pocket as a leading player!

His career is on the line at the Dee's. Our luck we will delsit him and another club will pick him up and play him forward where he will do well.

Dunn IN

Miller OUT

Dunn deserves a chance forward before Miller & Newton. With Jurrah & Pettard out. This is hs time! Versatile player too. Just needs to be given time forward. I think he is a real trier. More than what I can say about some of the others in the senior team at the moment.

Still not sure why Mckenzie didnt play at the "G" yesterday would have thought match ups and conditions would have suited him. Great too see him in the Best and Dunn has done everything right for a recall good on him others need to look at him and learn as he is a bit of a whipping boy!

Versatile?? More a master of none who had a day out at Casey.

A week ago all these know alls about Dunn were very quiet. He has been a terrible and repeated disappointment at AFL level. We have not got a functioning forward line and after a full pre season Dunn cant nail a position in the side. Hmmm

For 8 goals at Casey he deserves his opportunity (once more) to grasp a role at AFL level. I did not see the performance but I hope it is a sign that he has turned the corner and not a demonstration of the expanding gap between the AFL and the VFL.

But after six years and 60 games on the list, I have yet to see any aspects that suggest he is more than a trier who is borderline AFL at best.

A poor return to date on pick#15 in 2004.

Deanox for the win! B)

Agree with this.

Is Dunn a key position tall? No

Is Bate? I think not.

The only reason why Watts is believed to be a Key position is because he is 196cm. Truth be told, he plays like a Forward flank for a VFL reserves team.

Key position tall prospects:

Jack Watts - 196cm

Matthew Warnock - 192cm

James Frawley - 193cm

Jared Rivers - 192cm

Cale Morton - 192cm

Matthew Newton - 193cm

Brad Miller - 194cm

Colin Garland - 191cm

Liam Jurrah - 188cm

Matthew Bate - 192cm

Lynden Dunn - 192cm

Truth be told, he plays like a Forward flank for a VFL reserves team.

This could aptly apply to Dunn over the past six years and that other gun we have. You know the guy with no flaws...Michael Newton.

Ugh!

Dunn is like my tomato plant. Never quite producing tomatoes, never quite dead, it just occupies space in my backyard.

I noticed early in this thread there was a mention that Jack Fitzpatrick was injured in the reserves. I haven't been able to find any more detailed information on this anywhere at all, so am wondering if anyone here might know what the extent of the injury was and how well he was performing up until the time he left the ground. Thanks in advance.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
