Hughes to debut

Hughes gets his chance. I am one who really hopes he has a blinder. He has had a shocking run and bloody deserves some good luck to go his way.

His career hangs on his performances this year, so get behind him at the ground and show him some demon love.

Really hoping #38 can kick 3 or 4.

Agreed. I will be thrilled if Hughes can kick on and make the transition to seniors. After all the hard work he's put in it would be a great result.

Good Luck Hughesy. Make the most of your chances! It will be tuff to hold a permanent spot in this team in the future, so here is your chance. I will be there hoping you tear'em apart!!

All 3 of the games you mentioned we lost by around 50 points if I'm not wrong.

Hope Hughes as the most low-key of those introductions can change that.

Very best wishes to Danny for tonight..Great to hear on SEN recognised his persistence for more than 1000 days since picked up initially and came back from being delisted. Deserves a crack at the big time and an opportunity to get kept on the list as will be his last chance this year. Can be lively. Good to see another local Melbourne boy also.

Good luck to him and well done Bailey et al for giving him a chance.

It seems a trait for this new administration to empower a kid with a couple of games in the big time to see if the float. It is all now up to Danny, the coaching staff has shown some faith in him and kept him on, he has got his body right and have done the right things at Casey.

Now he has to deliver on the big stage by making an option, chase and tackle, keeping the ball in the forward line and, I think this is the big one against the doggies, is making his direct opponent is accountable.

Also couple of goals and a hanger would also be nice.

If I was Rod Eade I would be trying to get a fast quality rebound player on him all night and exploit him, Doggies have a few of these.

I reckon Bails will give him a couple of weeks to prove himself and get the feel of the faster harder better AFL game.

If he snags a few and has defensive pressure he could be a real find.

If he gets smashed ....well 2011 he will be playing in the country

I saw him kick 5 and grab everything kicked near him in Tassie about 4 years ago. He dominated that day. Long rocky road since then

Go Danny....smash those doggies......Give em hell

i wont say much

Don't understand why your acting like I wrote all over the thread claiming your wrong, all I asked was for someone to back it up a bit so I would know for sure.

You won't say much because there isn't really any substance to say much.

Honestly, if he said:

"Alright, I admit it, I AM CAMERON SCHWAB."

It's not like you'd believe it, is it?

It'd be pretty much the same result if it was Dean Bailey's son, Jim Stynes' hairdresser, Cameron Bruce's psychiatrist or Chris Connolly's mother-in-law's neighbour's dentist.

In the end, he was right.

Nothing more, nothing less.

But in all seriousness I could come on here, start a thread saying "Melbourne Demons were salary cap cheats in 2005" or "Rhys Healey is debuting" or "Jack Watts has a drinking problem"

Would you not be entitled to at the very least ask the question of how they know?

I have no problem with keeping you sources close to your chest, it's more than reasonable. But to then enter the thread and act as if I had written 7 posts saying that I don't believe it is a tad silly.

Yeah, of course.

Although, when you consider whether you'd believe the answer or not without being able to verify it's truth, you realise it's all rhetoric.

I thought Hughes did alright for his first, in trying conditions. Could this effort seal the fate of Miller?

miller was best on ground last week at casey...don't give up on milller to make it back into the side this year...melbs still has a huge hole to fill with big forwards.

but yes...hughes should get another week

Hughes did his bit today in tough conditions.

Look Miller was the last man contracted in 2009 on one year. He was on a knife edge to start with this year.

I thought his touches were good and he can only improve on that performance. He has taken his chance and will stay in the side for next week.

But missed the easy one in the first.

Played well though. Presented nicely, has great hands. In the wet last night he was useless below his knees but hopefully next week it'll be dry and we'll get a more accurate assessment. But no reason to drop him based on last night's effort.

Seems like a bit of a cult hero in the making.....

Any time he got the ball you would hear a bellowing Huuuuughhhessss around the ground.

Reminded me of Yze and to a lesser extent Cooney.

He showed he can play & has the game. Next is the proof, he has to do that consistently, then he'll be on a contract.

Go Danny.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
