Can we finish top 4 this year

Recommended Posts

Totally agree with this. If we continue with the we are in a building phase talk we wont perform.

Thats what happened week one.

Its time to say "you are going out on the park to win" not just get experience.

That's what I said earlier in the thread too

Tony Shaw (clown that he is) said last night that performance should be the benchmark of our minimum effort from now on. I am sure Dean and the others are trying their best to drum that into the players. What I'm saying is that IF they are able to pull that off and continue coming out and playing like that every week we will beat a whole heap of sides... top4 isn't on the cards but top8 is

"If we don't back it up this week, then it counts for nothing. The effort last week was good, but it doesn't count for anything if we don't back it up this week."

"If we can have our second-tier players stepping up and playing like they did each week, we're going to win more games than we lose."

Brent Moloney during the week

Now that we have proven something it is time for people to get a little fired up and stop acting like we are the losers of the comp still, we are not

I'm an economics student, and in economics we like to make assumptions.

So...

Assume we play for the remaining 20 weeks with the exact same intensity, skill and pressure that we displayed in Round 2.

Assume that our pressure was the reason for Collingwood performing badly.

Put those two assumptions together, and we'll win enough games to make the top 8. Heck, maybe even top 4.

Problem is neither of them will come to fruition.

We won't play every week like we did last week. That's how it should be, but we're at least 12 months away from that level of consistency.

And it wasn't totally us that made Collingwood play badly. Which therefore means that if we play like that against teams playing at 100% we won't get as close.

So top 4 is ludicrous. Top 8 is fanciful. Top 12 is possible. Top 16 is...

at what remedial institution did you learn logic

The same remedial institution you learnt how to pick up facetiousness in a reply. The institution for logic and facetiousness.

I do agree with your point though even if your basis for it is flawed.

I believe we can finnish top 4 this year considering we matched it with the filth when everyone think's the filth can finnish top 4.

If we apply ourselfes every week like last sat anything could happen, thoughts.

when is school back?

how is it flawed? If we play like we did last saturday, in the next 7 weeks;

we will beat: North, Richmond, Eagles at Home

probably: Lions at Home, the Crows at home, Port at Darwin(!)

no chance: Dogs

4-6 wins after 9 rounds, maybe in the 8, IF IF IF IF IF they keep it up

Some people are getting a little bit too emotional.

In 1987 after 16 rounds Melbourne had 9 losses and looked terrible. Everyone was negative. They went beserk, made the finals for the first time since 1964 then thrashed North Melbourne 158-40, then thrashed Sydney in the First Semi 149 to 73. The rest is history when we lost the Preliminary final to Hawthorn by 2 points. That same side was killed earlier in the year by North Melbourne.

What was different, they tackled hard and dominated the play.

We don't know what the future holds, however Melbourne has a great line up, with plenty of good players to come in the side, so it astounds me how negative some people are.

The best thing we can do is sign up members and go to games and support the Dees.

This is a great time to be a member of the Melbourne Football Club.

Absolutely [censored] myself when I read the title of this thread. And it gets better when you read people giving it some credence. Last week everyone is falling over themselves to sack Bails and now we are top 4? No wonder the club advise players not to read the site. What a roller coaster ride. If you think we are a top 4 side you're off your head.

If you really think MFC can finish top 4 you find the odds and put down 10,000 on them doing so.

If Melbourne tackles hard and plays with intensity they can definately finish in the top 4. There is no other side that really wants a flag.

"I think the person that made this thread is under the influence of narcotics, because it is the type of thing somebody who isn't thinking straight would say! Get it?! What a cracker of a joke!"

Anybody who saw the Eagles-Roos match today would know there are now at least three teams in the comp who are much worse than us. We play each of these three teams at home in the next 6 weeks. before round 10 we'll also play the crows and lions at home and port at darwin. We could well be in the 8 after the conclusion of round 9

That thing you put in bold was supposed to be sarcastic. I don't know why you'd take offence to one of the only people defending you in this thread.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
