If Proved, what a loser! Had a future in life ,now, ??????????????

Posted

why would he do it?? Must be Debt related or else he is a complete loser.

incredible!!!!

I was a big fan of stokesy, this is terrible to hear.

Quote from Herald Sun:-

"The court heard Stokes purchased one gram of cocaine from a Geelong nightclub worker last month to give to friends from the Northern Territory.

The court heard he told police he had never consumed the drugs."

His future gone over one gram of cocaine for some silly friends...

"Nah man I promise it aint mine, I was just holding it for some friends"

The stupidity of footballers never ceases to amaze me.

Is it possible to prove a person has used it? I have heard of tests that might be able to prove he hasn't used for a certain amount of tiem.

And while 1g is a considerable amount for a single person, I don't think it is really "trafficking quantity" (although the law probably disagrees).

It will be very interesting to see how the AFL & Geelong handle this. Ben Cousins got deregistered for bringing the game into disrepute for charges that were eventually dropped, So I think Matty Stokes can expect that as the minimum. I for one am glad to see this come out. The AFL for far to long has had its big Vlad like head in the sand, Its might now be serious about the problem of drugs in the AFL and not just show it lip service respect. Dale Lewis must feel vindicated.

Yes as far as the AFL are concerned i always thought the 3 strike policy was a joke.

This will come back to bite them hard. Of course he is going to say it wasn't for him and he has never tried it.

Shame though because i actually liked stokes, but he has "Blown" it all away now as an AFL player i would guess

He is on good coin so why did he do it??

haha what a load of crap.

Do you all honestly think he has not done it before? 1 g of cocain is quite a lot btw.

User for sure.

You're completely wrong. It is sold in multiples of 1 gram, but 1 gram is an absolute minimum.

This is going to sound ridiculous, but I actually happen to know the "ringleader" involved in this operation through my completely-unrelated line of work. I always knew the guy was into something unsavoury, but also knew better than to ask.

Obviously this guy is locked up now, but according to one of his associates who I've seen just a short while ago, Stokes is telling the truth.

Doesn't touch it, but knows the right guys to ask around town and was getting some to help some mates out.

So the story I've been told goes...

Still an incredibly stupid thing to do.

If Stokes knew these Guys well then he should have known better than to go anywhere near them.

"Ignorance is no excuse" first Law of Law.

Silly Boy Silly Boy.

Yeah, you're 100% right.

I just feel for the guy when I think of the highly illegal things I myself have done in the past to help out a mate.

They've not hurt anyone, but if I got caught... it doesn't bear to think about.

You are absolutely right, i have done amazingly crazy stuff over the years.

so i am not standing on the moral high ground

But i was never a fully professional AFL premiership player either, when you sign on that line you gotta play the game.

1 gram.... arrested for 1 gram....ridiculous. People at dance parties get drug intervention programs for having slightly more than that. Grand standing by the police at it's finest.

Hair follicle testing allows you to trace any drugs which have been ingested in the past 90 days. That's why there was a lot of fuss when Ben Cousins shaved his hair supposedly so that he couldn't provide a valid sample. Stokes, on the other hand, has a full head of hair and a horrendous mo. Easy to test him.

I hear ya.

Much more widespread than some would like to believe.

Umm no you can buy a point of coke like .1 of a gram around $50

A gram in Australia is worth about $500.

A few points would easily get you off a chops unless your an addict so it is quite a lot.

Footballer doing utterly stupid act and breaks law! How novel!! What a dumbass situation to put yourself in.

Stokes has been charged with a criminal act. Like with Lovett, I cant see the AFL acting on this until the Court determines his fate. If they do they will get the Club to act. Geelong will suspend him indefinitely until the Court Case is decided. If found guilty Geelong would be within their contractual rights to potentially terminate the contract and the AFL will not register him. He will be doing loads of durg testing too. His situation is completely different to Cousins.

Another Storm in a teacup. Paper filler for the off season.

Stokes is on a criminal charge of trafficking and possession not consumption of drugs.

While Cousins was not specfically charged with drug offences, Cousins conduct over a number of years (including booze bus jumping) it was obvious that Cousins was impacted by drugs (which he has later admitted). Cousins conduct, contacts and behaviour was well known in the West and was malignanlty tolerated by WCE (and the AFL) His behaviour was rightly determined to be bringing the game into disrepute. Cousins was a person spiralling out of control. As a game icon at the time and club captain, Cousins was bringing repeated damage to the profile of the game. Stokes at this point is just terribly stupid individual who has been pinged by the law. The AFL/GFC will not move ahead of the Courts on punishment for risk prejudicing the trial or causing undue dispute with the AFLPA all of which will end in the media.

I think Stokes is finished if found guilty and there will be PR mileage for the AFL to redeem him. At 25 and not a regular in a Club like Geelong with salary cap pressures, he may be on the outer.

I would have thought that given his (stokes) admissions and the course of events to date that the AFL was well within its ( a it sees it) rights to level a charge of bringing the game into disrepute against Stokes even now. The Criminal aspect is a parallel aspect to this and not one of the AFLs domain. Theres no reason for the AFL wait. Any action by the AFL is hardly likely to prejudice any judicial procedings.

Are you saying you knew about this -before Stokes was charged? re your statement,---but according to one of his associates who I've seen just a short while ago, Stokes is telling the truth.

You really have some network !

Its not about the AFL rights.

Its the media exposure of the AFL doing such a thing and its ability to impact the conduct of the trial.

Given the AFL is a media driven machine, why would it bring further attention to the matter and be alleged to have undermined the Court system and abused the players right to a fair trial (AFLPA).

The AFL are smarter than that.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
