Are you that inept that you don't understand importance of meditation to the healing process of cancer sufferers. You should apologise immediately. Your comment on this particular topic do you no favours whatsoever.

DISGRACEFUL.

Who should I apologise to and who am I looking to recieve favours from?

I'm confused about Jim's cancer journey. A few months ago he wanted privacy. Now he is making television appearences about it.

From what I can tell, Jim is doing this because he wants to help other cancer sufferers by serving as a kind of role model or something. I admire him for this but sadly, I think the greatest good that will come from all of it will be when Jim finally dies and people realise that no amount of positive thinking and alternative therapies will save you from secondaries in your brain.

From channel 7's perspective, this is all just cancer pornography. They are using Jim's death to make advertising dollars. This is one of the reasons that lingering shots of Jim's meditation leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I don't care that my opinions are unpopular and that they may be in poor taste because I don't want to be your friend.

Well at least you're right on both counts. Still BLOODY DISGRACEFUL. Your posts should be removed immediately as they are downright offensive to anybody who has had to suffer a battle with cancer. Get outta here.

Actually mate, leaving is more your style.

But you had to come back, didn't you?

Feel free to report my posts to a moderator, I stand by them.

Your moral hysteria would suit channel 7 down to the ground.

Better moral hysteria than no morals at at all..That's it, your "oxygen" needs to be cut off.

I rest my case. Did you note the " ". The word, in this case, was used as a metaphor for not giving you anymore credence on this forum. Damn, I just done it. No more though. Engage your brain before you do your mouth.

If there is a mod here that is deleting posts can he or she please explain what is going on?

Personally I would prefer the record to accuratley reflect the abuse that I have been recieving and my response to it.

If you are going to censor the discussion then you might as well delete everything after my first post in the thread (#25), given that just about everything after that was personal attacks and my responses to them.

Hazy do you really believe that Jim's attempts at trying to beat his cancer are a waste of time??

I am quite literally shocked at what i read in the above text FFS you really are a heartless bastard if you stand by those words and i do pity you for feeling that way.

You certainly have n axe to grind with the present board, but do remember if it wasn't for the present board i doubt we the MFC would be in existance anymore. Vlad told us all that last year.

This is such a typical response I really don't know where to begin - but I'll give it a try.

I do not wish ill on Jim. Quite asidfe from being a club legend Jim is a dedicated family man who has given a lot back to the community with his reach foundation. Even if he was a racist mouthy slag like Jade Goody, I still wouldn't wish cancer on him.

This does not change the fact that Jim has cancer. He has secondaries in his brain and no amount of "positive thinking" is going to change that fact. These are the facts - these are not things that I hope are true.

If Jim is spreading the message that positive thinking and alternative therapies can cure his cancer then he is being irresponsible and is causing damage to the community no matter how good his intentions are. DO YOU HONESTLY BELEIVE THAT THE 40,000 OR SO AUSTRLIANS WHO WILL DIE OF CANCER NEXT YEAR WILL DO SO BECAUSE THEY LACK THE CHARACTER TO "FIGHT IT"? If any good comes out of Jim's choice to make his cancer journey public, it will be a hightened level of skepticism amongst Australian cancer sufferers, many of whom are ripped off by low-life snake oil merchants who pray on their false hopes.

I really don't see what makes Jim's cancer journey any different to that of the 100,000 or so Austrlians who are diagnosed with cancer every year. If the channel 7 show is anything to go by then I do not think he has any special insight to offer.

I also don't see what any of this has to do with Liam Jurrah and the whole production smacks of the kind of exploitative circus that organisations like channel 7 do so well out of.

I do not agree with you about my having an axe to grind. I do not agree with your assertion that the club would have gone under if Jim hadn't stepped in. Jim's cancer has no bearing upon either of these.

I have a good friend who at 27 is going through secondary cancer treatment right now so do not lecture me on the merits of Positive Thinking. I find it offensive.

You may think it right to just walk away and accept that the diagnosis as terminal which the sufferer must just accept.

but i don't. And lets be honest. Ever since Jim became Prez you have put the boot into him and the administration whenever you have visited here-i'm sure your old post still exist in the ether somewhere.

One day you will come clean...But do not insinuate that cancer treatment is a waste of time.

I have never once insinsuated that cancer treatment is a waste of time.

For some people, cancer treatment can lead to a cure.

For others like Jim, such treatment can be helpful for its pallitaive benefits (ie.e. it won't stop them from dying, but it might help them feel better).

Alternative treatments somteims offer some palliative benefit (meditation), often they are of no use whatsoever (aside from the placeabo effect).

Of course positive thinking is also useful to a limited extent - cancer and depression is worse than cancer alone.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, but it doesn't change the facts.

If your friend's cancer is similar to Jim's cancer, then no amount of poisitve thinking is going to stop him or her from dying sooner rather than later.

P.S. I really wicsh you hadn't brought this up in a post about cancer treatment, but if you want to see my record on demonland you don't even have to bother looking up my old posts, Hannabal has done it for you somewhere - ask him about it. Unlike him I don't re-write history by deleting my old posts.

Jimmy is a hero to many and I'm not sure there is a lot of mileage or purpose in attacking him.

I am not attacking him, I don't know where you got this from. I also respect Jim's right to change his mind and make his cancer story public. In fact I even wrote that I admire him for it (because I think he has good intentions).

I can be critical of the show without being critical of Jim's decision to be on it.

Fair enough Hazy i will take that on board, but i will never deny the power of positive thinking.

When i was born doctors only game me a about 4 days to live, because of a whole load of problems, but after 46 years i am still kicking

i walk with canes but its better than a lot of people. Positive thinking sure was a large part of getting me through.

I'm going to lock this thread for a while and let everyone relax a little.

I'll reopen it and hopefully we can avoid a slanging match. If anyone (that has been involved) feels that they have not had an adequate chance to say what they want to let me know. I'll reopen it tomorrow.

So, ....did anyone see that special on Ch 7, highlighting Jimmy and Liam in Yuendumu.

I thought Tim struggled a little with his new portfolio as a special reporter. Could have asked a bit more. Although I'm told there is a follow up to be shown in March. Perhaps that will have a little more content.

Agree with HT and 45Hg16.

I thought the topic was a worthy one but the quality of the report was questionable.

I enjoyed Martin Flanagan's take on it more.

I completely missed this thread last night.

Wow.

All this over a Tim Watson (!) puff piece on Sunday Night (!)?

Some need tact, others need to read a little less into everything that is written on here.

Posted

I wonder if the club would consider linking with a travel agent to offer supporters a footy trip to Yuendumu?

Posted

It seemed like it missed a massive chunk in the middle some where

which would of brought the entire story together in some sort of meaningful way.

It would of been good to hear from the community of Yuendumu as to what impact

Liam's journey had had on them and what it meant to have Jim Stynes visiting. This

would of reflected the positive approaches/ processes both men are journeying through.

Would of also been nice to see an announcement of soughts which linked the MFC to the

community. Like a youth development program, or an annual players/coaches contigent making themselves

available to help develop kids, maybe even a scholarship program for talented kids from the area.

Maybe these are options further down the track but I can see the MFC could have a massive

impact in central aus if they want too.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
