On a recent flight back from Adelaide, I saw a group of young indigenous players coming to Melbourne for one of the pre-final games.

There was a young Bamblett amongst them, and he looked like a likely type....any chance of father/son??

Son of Les? 11 game Les?

were they having a kick on the plane?

That's what I'm wondering...

What he looked athletic? Moved well as he got into his seat? Negotiated the airport traffic with ease?

There was one instance where he swooped down the aisle and scooped up a pack of peanuts from the ground, carried it down the aisle and evaded 2 hostess'.

Balked a dinning cart, sold some candy to the bloke in aisle 2 and delivered it with precision by hand to the waiting bloke up fwd in space...

nah he joined the mile high club with the business class hostie. .. very impressive performance.

Les Bamblett...went on to play for Footscray..was he our first indigenous player?

Les cost us a supporter. My sister used to have Les' number on her jumper (#8 IIRC) and when he went to Footscray so did she.

Excuse me for asking, but was she a flight attendant?

In his short career, Bamblett was a gifted ball winner who could not apply himself to the requirements of VFL at the time and living in the big city. If the kid has his Dad's ability and has the application to make it, he would could be a good ball winner. Was one of Ray Jordan's wonder kids in the early 80s that did not take the next step.

Spun on a dime outside the ladies, took three bounces on the overhead compartments, made sure everyone's seat belt restraints were secure, then threaded it straight through the flight attendants lingerie. :o

Les "Lally Bamblett wasn't our first indigenous player by a long way.

We had Eddie Jackson in the forties - a premiership player back in '48 I think. We also had Colin Graham in the 70's after chasing his uncle, a champion from the SANFL in the late 60's.

The young Bamblett on the flight might be a lad who plays for one of the TAC Cup country sides (Murray Bushrangers?)

I'm sure Deebest would know if he's around.

Richard plays for North Ballarat in the TAC Cup but is ineligible for this years draft. Les is his uncle.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
