Robert Flower #2 is my number one :)

To borrow from Supermercado, my favourite player history:

Darren Bennett

David Schwarz

Travis Johnstone

Brock McLean

Now it's Colin Sylvia. I'd tracked him all the way from his TAC Cup days and I was rapt when we grabbed him in 2003. It's taken a while but the talent was always there. It was just a question of whether the body and the mind were capable.

I also have a soft spot for Jack Grimes. He's going to be some sort of player.

Was Farmer and robbo (all time)

Now jurrah or sylvia, moloney close second.

I mean seriously Jurrah just does things that gets you so excited!!!

All time? Jackovich or Stynes with Neitz closing the gap through rose coloured glasses.

Current - Rivers. Only knows one way to play and that's with complete disregard for his own body.

Future - Can't split Jurrah and Grimes. Grimes looks like a future star, Jurrah looks like something i've never seen before. For the first time I believe it when it' said "he could be anything."

My 1st ever favourite player (that i can remember) was Rodney "Balls" Grinter. I can still recall sitting in the red seat section in the Northern stand one day watching as he nearly had his head taken off in a shirt-front as he was steaming away from a pack toward an oncoming defender. Instead of falling into a heap on the floor, he just kept running. I wanted to be like that and always tried to play my footy that way. Plus he was always good to keep us entertained with a cheeky raised elbow in a bump, or sometimes just an accidental face re-arrangement to a toss-pot like TW.

After Balls I then idolized Stephen "Stinga" Tingay. The way he turned his skinny frame into a massive unit and watching him plough down the wings of the MCG en-route to a 55m bomb goal... Tough and hard with class written all over him and destined for further honours in his career bar an unfortunate walk through a glass window pane. Special player.

Presently... well unfortunately it was Brock, but I think I jumped prematurely into that relationship (based on the fact that we had little else to choose from) but now I think it's Col. But so far neither compares to my 1st 2 man-crushes.

As for Shanahan I stand by my decision. I've got a defender fetish - somebody has to.

Shanners was a fine player for us in '98 He had a point to prove

I liked his courage. Was very well like within the club aswell.

Ray Biffin has always been my Fave Defender for the Red & Blue.

Grimes will be a favourite of all of us....................if he can stay on the park. Embodies everything you want in a footballer.

Jurrah for excitement.

Col Garland is up there and hope he heals up well.

Have a soft spot for the Russian.

Any man in the red and blue who puts his heart into his game and head over the ball.

I like this progression idea.

Jakovich. I also like Stynes around this time too.

then no standouts for a while, then

Cameron Bruce

Jeff White

Aaron Davey.

Nathan Jones, tough as they come.

My favourite of all time has to be David Neitz.

Admired the way he busted packs and always kicked the goal that needed to be kicked and I hope and am sure I will see another player like David Neitz in my lifetime.

All-time: Jakovich hands down. The 1991 season was where I was young and wavering on whether or not I was going to get into footy. He came to our school for a footy clinic and was an absolute bastard, but about three weeks later he burst back into the side and I was in love. There is a very good reason why I got bored of footy in 1995 after he'd been given the arse.

Now: The Stefan Martin Experience. I liked him as a defender but ever since I got his number on my jumper he hasn't been near the backline once.

The complete history of numbers I've had on my jumper

#54 - Brent Heaver

#31 - Rod Keogh

#13 - Jakovich (poor Rod just had his numbers reversed)

#1 - Shanahan

#28 - Philthy Phil

#34 - The SME

Hey, I like novelty players. What can I do?

That's awesome. Love the Philphy addition.

Neitz I think is my all-time favourite.

Modern day, I just don't know yet. Petterd I have a soft spot for. That's about it. Give it time though.

Scully, I reckon, when he one day walks away from footy, could end up being the best MFC player I'll see live.

No pressure.

Liam Jurrah

I actually laughed aloud at this!

Either Jones or Jurrah

Jones because he always gives his all and would be a good captain after Junior.

Jurrah because he's probably the most exiteting player in the comp who can basically do anything.

I agree. I really like Wonaeamirri as well. I love the way he celebrates his goals... his last quarter against Freo last year was awesome. Neitz would probably be all time favourite.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
