Simple thread, who is your favourite Melbourne player and why?

Even though he's barely played, mine has to be Watts, watched him over under 18s and he's going to be one hell of a player.

Colin Sylvia, just hope last season was not a flash in the pan.

Yep, Col is my favourite player (although Jurrah isn't far behind). From the past, it would have to be the Wiz.

If we are talking about the past, it has to be Jakovich. He is the reason I support Melbourne. He came along just when I was at an impressionable age and stole me away from my Hawthorn supporting parents.

Footy is a funny game. if you asked this question last year i don't think to many people would have sylvia as there favourite player but one year on he is everyones man.

Sylvia for mine as well. I have liked him for awhile now and just rapt he has turned his form around.

JURRAH!!

Cemented a spot in the best 22 in his first game.

Yeah, Farmer is the reason I support Melbourne. Kicked 7 goals in the first game I ever went to, I barely understood the game but he was my instant hero!

Jurrah for me!

I feel we have emerged an exciting superstar who is and will be a legend of the game!

I know people will laugh at me but my favourite is Daniel Bell. Always like the battlers.

Past favourites have been Brent Heaver, Darren Kowall and Bruce Cohan (he was on our supp list way back)

All-time: Jakovich hands down. The 1991 season was where I was young and wavering on whether or not I was going to get into footy. He came to our school for a footy clinic and was an absolute bastard, but about three weeks later he burst back into the side and I was in love. There is a very good reason why I got bored of footy in 1995 after he'd been given the arse.

Now: The Stefan Martin Experience. I liked him as a defender but ever since I got his number on my jumper he hasn't been near the backline once.

The complete history of numbers I've had on my jumper

#54 - Brent Heaver

#31 - Rod Keogh

#13 - Jakovich (poor Rod just had his numbers reversed)

#1 - Shanahan

#28 - Philthy Phil

#34 - The SME

Hey, I like novelty players. What can I do?

Addam Maric for me, will be an absolute gem, Jurrah, Sylvia close 2nds

Brent Heaver kicked 5 in his first game & then did nothing except go to carlton!! (His first game was against those Pricks too)

All-time: Flower

Current player: Cannot split Sylvia and Jurrah at the moment.

Past hero, who drew me to the dee. Has to be Garry Lyon.

1988 Demons vs Eagles (elimanation Final)

Goal in the last minates.......................

Dee from 5th on the ladder to Grand Final contenders.....

I got given a jumper for my birthday the day after he kicked five. When asked what number I wanted on it there were no voices of reason to point out what a stupid idea it was.

Next year he was out and Rod was in. Again, no voices of reason were present.

As for Shanahan I stand by my decision. I've got a defender fetish - somebody has to.

Ha all of them. But I get extra excited whenever Sylvia or LJ goes near the ball.

Some interesting ones here. Maric? Bell? nice ones.

All time is David Neitz. Champion.

Current is LJ by a mile and Grimes in second

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
