Best F/B & C/H/B for 2010

Still Waiting

Recommended Posts

Who are most likely to play the majority of games on F/F's and C/H/F's such as Riewoldt, Fev, Buddy, Kosi and generally the bigger fwds.

Have we got this settled yet, or is there good competition between Chip, Riv, Warnock, Garland etc?

I reckon this area is vital for our improvement in 2010.

Thoughts?

I'm putting all my trust in Warnock for the next 12-24 months. He's really grown to a size where he can iron out some of the bigger, more imposing guys going round at the moment. After Matty, it's all about Chip, who has also somehow gotten massive over the space of only a couple of seasons. Garland, assuming he plays in defence, still has to get completely fit again before he's given 22 rounds on the big boys.

It's kind of exciting actually. If you look at how Warnock's career has grown, from a nothing promoted-rookie for the first few years of his career, to now being a good, solid defender with a big frame, it bodes well for every other player on the list.

If we give Dunn, Rivers, Frawley, Martin, Watts, Morton and all the other 190-192+ players that kind of time and faith, imagine what could happen? Some may not make it, but Warnock is certainly not the most gifted player going round. If he can do it, they can...

With the current players list, the beauty that DB has noe after experimenting is he has great flexibility. He can basically play personnel against personnell and not positional play.As stated earlier, the backline has got great candidates,it is the midfield that needs player improvement. With the real chance of grabbing a couple of extremely good midfielders this will help enormously.

Warnock FB. Lock it in.

Frawley CHB. Improved beyond many peoples' expecations this year. Should be capable given his promising efforts on Fev and Riewoldt late this year.

That leaves Rivers and Garland to play on the third tall or else maybe push up the ground a bit.

Martin will play ruck/forward I think.

And let's not rule out Lake or Gibson... ;)

Does FB and CHB, really exist anymore?

Its all about Forwards, Backs and Match ups.

Our Back line talls look well equipt to take on the best the AFL can offer up with

Warnock, Rivers, Frawley, Garland and swing man Martin.

Our younger players is where we will improve alot.

Garland was a very exciting prospect before getting injured. Didn't he keep Buddy Goaless in one game? or he didn't kick many. So it will good to get him into the side, either as a Backman or if they decide to throw him forward.

Frawley is looking polished and will become a standout next year.

Warnock = FB

Rivers = CHB

Frawley/Garland = Can play on 3rd/4th talls or even dangerous smalls who are good overhead such as S. Johnson, Medhurst, Porplyzia etc.

Rivers can't play KPB. Not quick enough, and he is best as the loose man.

Frawley and Warnock will take CHF and FF.

I still think Chip Frawley will eventually be our full back on the fast leading Full Forwards. His speed off the mark is the thing thats handy, & also I think his awkward kicking style limits his damaging ability up field.

I think Warnock can also play numerous roles in defence, but next to Frawley, in the pocket is where I think he can be if there is a matchup for him there. Also CHB &/or pinch hit up forward.

IMO the CHB position is where we need to find a real class act, tall running athletic who has great disposal skills. (I wish I could get Daniel Talia)

Rivers is an everywhere defender, playing loose in defence, helps out, but hasn't made a place his own.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
