Dean Bailey on SEN

I don't know; I will leave it up to the Football Department. I remember after the draft last year CC was rumbling about re-drafting CJ as he was the best player in the PSD. What happened with Jurrah has got to be one of the greatest strokes of luck we have had in recent times; You can't expect that it will happen again.

I remember this. CC was quoted as saying we will select CJ again, IF he is the best player available, which he certainly was not. More of a sly backhand than an endorsement for Johnson.

I also recall this, he was just ruffling a few feathers, it was a sly backhand for him walking.

And do we remember what Bailey did when CJ turned up a the club after he had made the decision to leave?

Many people on here felt Bailey was unprofessional and rude.

I thought 'why would anyone turn up to training after making the decision to leave?'

If you want people to value being at this great club you have to take a strong stand to those who don't treat this club with respect.

(And by that I don't mean leaving, I mean turning up and running around with teammates and in colours you have decided not to play with anymore)

Yes, recall this. Bailey tore strips off him in front of the players from memory.

Thought I'd highlight your valid point in making a strong stand. It's very important with regard to the fabric of the club.

I'll third that. Really love hearing that about Bailey. This club needs to regain it's passion, hardness, and uncomprimising ways if it is to succeed. Personally I think we're in safe hands.

Absolutely, & CJ certainly has not set the world on fire has he. Bailey knew CJ was a loose canon & he could afford to wave him goodbye.

Respect or leave the MFC....simple really

Not sure he was a loose canon but he was and is only a good VFL player

Bailey said he is still fairly keen to make Martin a KPP and longer target for us.

Also mentioned Watts inside 50 with Sylvia and Bate. Brushed over Miller a bit. Then mentioned Garland as able to play both forward and back. Finally mentioned Morton as a similar height to Pav and Roo.

I think that is a strong indication he has his forward line all planned out and will go with 2 mids in the draft.

Not sure of accuracy but heard at lunch from a Blues supporter that Warnock has either reinjured his foot or it is still bothering him. We will see if he plays this week.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
