Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tanked against the Tiges

I thought we tanked today and still nearly won. Warnock and Frawley in the forward line.

Newton down back. Sylvia not picked. and Davey on the bench at times when i thought he should have been on.

Johnston also used in the backline.

I agree that the coaching staff played players well out of position today. This is definitely a form of tanking.

Noone however could ever argue that the players didn't try their very hardest to win

there's no such thing as half assed tanking. if you're going to tank, then bloody tank! Drop Davey, Bruce, Jones, Petterd, Bate, McDonald and Rivers and replace them with some rookies etc. Bloody melbourne are idiots. ffs!

Freak, we had Sylvia, McLean, Moloney, Morton, Green, Wona, Garland and Jamar not playing (and I'm sure I've missed a couple). There's not many left who can come in. Bailey did everything he possibly could to lose today.

We looked good enough to win and to also beat Nth Melb and Freo in coming weeks. Injuries might be the only way to stop us winning. Cause I honestly believe we are better than all those teams.

I would like to congratulate Dean Bailey. Did everything possible but dumbarse Richmond can't read.

We need to make sure we are on the ball nxt week.

There is going to be mass pressure on the demons this week but hopefully we are strong enough to keep doing what we are doing and not get sucked into winning against North.

Yeah definitely tanked, embarrassed to admit I was barracking for Richmond....feel sorry for the players though.

Interesting to note that Bailey walked out of the box with 20 seconds left when we were infront, maybe he didnt want ne1 to see him pull whats left of his hair out if we won.....

we were robbed though, McMahon definitely took that mark after the siren

other than tanking, does anyone know why Sylvia wasnt picked? Not good for moral if the players think the coach is tanking

I thought Bailey coached beautifully, and demonstrated he had a Plan A, B, C and D.

Plan A: Drop half the team

Plan B: Hope to play blokes in position and be beaten

Plan C: Bring a ruckman into the side for a midfielder, then play Miller in the ruck.

Plan D: Play blokes out of position - Warnock and Frawley in the forward line, Newton in the team, ON A WING, Davey on the bench, Bartram forward (after playing on Riewoldt) , Johnson back, Valenti at full back

Plan E: Don't mark 2 players inside the back 50.

To the players, great effort and they clearly wanted to win. I thought that given that almost every player was playing out of position, they did pretty well.

Do you know what is a hell of a lot scarier than Melbourne tanking? Richmond wasn't

Jacky Grimes is a legend.

Richmond are so bloody dreadful they almost lost despite us trying just about everything to lose short of playing Davey in the ruck.

The Tiges should have won comfortably.

Melbourne nearly won by accident.

In fact, I now hate Richmond even more than I did before. Instead of winning by several goals and consigning the game into the mists of history, they were so pathetic they won in "dramatic fashion" to put even more heat into the tanking issue.

We will now cop a heap of ugly attention because today's result will be viewed as every bit as notorious as Round 22, 2007 and West Coast last weekend - maybe even more notorious.

Will the AFL get involved? They only had to listen to the radio talk-back after the game to realise the current situation stinks.

Bloody Richmond.

We tanked. If anyone thinks otherwise, pull your head out of the sand. Bailey and the rest of the coaches did not want to win.

Warnock, Frawley and Whelan all playing forward. Newton playing defence. Miller rucking, when we're playing Spencer, Johnson and Martin. Cheney, Dunn, Bate and Whelan contesting centre bounces. Johnson being left to run around and do what he wants. Cheney playing on Hislop (looked to me like he was giving up quite a few centimetres).

I was sitting right in front of the coaches box, and when we hit the front, I looked at Bailey and he sure didn't look happy. I heard someone say that's what SEN said (something like 'Rawlings looks sick, Bailey looks worse').

This display has turned Kevin Bartlett, who until now has been a staunch sceptic of tanking.

It just goes to show how incredibly inept Richmond are.

Our forward line for the last quarter:

Frawley Jetta Davey

Bartram Warnock Jones

That's better than any "tank team" we came up with during the week.

PJ fb, Warnock full forward the whole third quarter.

Our middle in the last quarter

Spencer, Grimes, Miller and Bate.

I feel so dirty.

I want to hear KB's response to thsi tomorrow on SEN

Warnock to full forward after we are in front :)

GOLD!

KB's response tomorrow should be put out as a CD!! I think we all know now that Bailey wants those Draft picks.

Well played Bails at looking to the future. We also know the players do not try to lose, as it always should be.

Demons 2010 and beyond.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
